September 10, 2014...Brooklyn, N.Y. Arnold L. Lehman, Shelby White and Leon Levy Director of the Brooklyn Museum, announced yesterday at the fall meeting of the Board of Trustees that he will retire in mid-2015. Lehman, who turned 70 in July, joined the Brooklyn Museum as Director in September 1997.

Theater Breaking Through Barriers (TBTB) is set to receive a 2014 ADA Sapolin Award in recognition of its artistic excellence and commitment to advancing people with disabilities. In 1994, Bette Midler returned to New York after nearly 20 years in Los Angeles, and started the New York Restoration Project, a non-profit organization devoted to bringing abandoned and neglected parks, gardens, and open spaces in all five boroughs back to life.
