The Public Theater officially opened the Mobile Shakespeare Unit's THE COMEDY OF ERRORS on Thursday, November 5. Directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah, the sit-down run of THE COMEDY OF ERRORS follows a three-week tour to the five boroughs, bringing free Shakespeare to audiences who have limited or no access to the arts. The Shakespeare comedy began previews at The Public Theater November 1 and will run through Sunday, November 22.

Following the Mobile tour, THE COMEDY OF ERRORS will have a sit-down run at The Public Theater, now through Sunday, November 22, with an official press opening tonight, November 5.

Flor De Liz Perez, currently playing Luciana in THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, spoke with Broadwayworld about this Mobile Unit production and how 'beautiful' it is to reach the non-conventional theatre audience.

Continuing its commitment to bringing free Shakespeare to the community and strengthening audience engagement with the arts, The Public Theater mounts its MOBILE SHAKESPEARE UNIT again this month with a free three-week tour to the five boroughs of Shakespeare's THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah. The free Mobile Unit tour (today, October 9, through October 29) will bring free Shakespeare to audiences who have limited or no access to the arts by visiting correctional facilities, homeless shelters, social service organizations, and other community venues, including stops at our Public Works community partner venues: Brownsville Recreation Center in Brooklyn and DreamYard Project in the Bronx.

InViolet Theater Company, under the direction of Founding Co-Artistic Directors Michael Henry Harris and Angela Razzano, In association with Melanie Maras, Bryan Tallevi and Andrea Kiefer have announced the off-off Broadway run of SOMMERFUGL, a new play written by Bixby Elliot inspired by the true story of Lili Elbe, the first person to have gender reassignment surgery in 1930. On Monday, June 22, Barefoot Theatre Company celebrates the second annual Vassallo Awards with a Spring Gala beginning at 7:15 pm at the American Ballroom Theater on 25 West 31st Street in Manhattan. The cast includes Dacyl Acevedo (Will work for Food), Bernardo Cubria (so go the ghosts of mexico), Heather Velazquez (Pinkolandia).
