Amphibian Stage Productions today announced casting for its third main stage production of the 2013 season, The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged) by Adam Long, Reed Martin, and Austin Tichenor. Luke Longacre, Brandon J. Murphy, and Scott Zenreich will star in this irreverent comedy, running Thursday, July 11 through Sunday, August 11 at Amphibian's theater at 120 S. Main Street. Jay Duffer will direct the production.

Merrimack Repertory Theatre's (MRT's) Artistic Director Charles Towers has just announced an updated schedule for the 2013-2014 Season. Due to rights availability, MRT is pleased to announce next season will now include Lanford Wilson's classic American love story Talley's Folley. I love it when the Reduced Shakespeare Company comes to town. Their humor runs the gamut from simple puns and wordplay to sophisticated laughs that require a bit of intellect. The last time I saw them was a couple of years ago at the Edison Theatre on the campus of Washington University. I didn't see the main members that time, but this time the heavy artillery was broken out and Reed Martin, Austin Tichenor and Matt Rippy, all original contributors (Daniel Singer is the actual founding member), made the trip to our fair city. Once again they played the Edison (December 7-8) and, this time, took on the holiday season with THE ULTIMATE CHRISTMAS SHOW(abridged). The production was a pure delight from start to finish.

I'm not going to lie. It's hard, coming from Sketch/Improv background like myself, to not know about The Reduced Shakespeare Company. Their fast, physical wit is what every Sketch Comedian and Improviser aspires to work toward.

The San Francisco Gate has compiled a list of Shakespearean plays which will take place this summer throughout the Bay Area. Some 28 of the Bard's works are on offer this summer from the usual ('Romeo and Juliet,' 'A Midsummer Night's Dream,' 'Twelfth Night,' 'Macbeth') to such rarities as his first, goriest tragedy, 'Titus Andronicus' (opening Cal Shakes' season), and the late, odd 'Cymbeline' (S.F. Shakespeare).

The New Victory Theater will launch its 2011-12 season with the New York premiere of The Little Prince written by Rick Cummins and John Scoullar, an enchanting and faithful adaptation of the French fable by Antoine de Saint- Exupéry. In this production, creations by Monkey Boys Productions, the puppet builders behind Broadway's Avenue Q and Little Shop of Horrors, will share the stage with actors. The Little Prince will run from October 1 through October 16.
