Broadway By the Bay continues its 2017 Season with SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE, the Songs of Lieber and Stoller. SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE runs June 2nd through June 18th at the historic Fox Theatre in Redwood City (2215 Broadway Street, Redwood City, CA).

New Conservatory Theatre Center continues its 35th Anniversary celebration in March, proudly presenting the world premiere of Jewelle Gomez's Leaving the Blues, an NCTC commissioned play with music imagining the life of legendary Blues singer-songwriter Alberta Hunter (1895-1984). In the new play by the celebrated Gilda Stories' author, Hunter is backstage preparing for a professional comeback, knowing just how many doors to the past it may open. Spanning 60 years, Leaving the Blues imagines a journey through the public life Hunter led as an African-American musician, the private life she hid as a lesbian, and the ghosts that won't let her forget.

The Bay Area Children's Theatre (BACT) opens a special limited engagement of the whimsical musical, A Year With Frog and Toad, Saturday, September 3, at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre (Peet's Theatre), 2025 Addison Street, Berkeley, CA 94703. The show plays at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. weekends throughSeptember 25.

Nominations were reader-submitted and after the nomination period ended, BroadwayWorld's local editors proofed the list for eligibility and errors. Voting runs through December 31.

The sun is shining in Cattawood Springs, a small village on the Island of Jamaica, but timid, 11-year-old Ziggy prefers to stay indoors, watching TV, "just making sure that there are no hurricanes coming." Here are some photos from The Royal Underground Theatre Company's production of Jonathan Larson's musical RENT currently playing Southside Theatre, Fort Mason Center in San Francisco, California. Directed by Filipino stage director Jerianne Banson, RENT is part of the 'In Performance' Series at Fort Mason, which has been getting support from the Grants for the Arts/San Francisco Hotel Tax Fund, and the Williams and Flora Hewlett Foundation. The show runs 'til Sunday, February 21, 2010.

Filipino siblings Enrico and Jerianne Banson are producing Jonathan Larson's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical RENT at the Southside Theatre, Fort Mason Center, Building D in San Francisco, California via The Royal Underground Theatre Company, a JERICA Productions subsidiary. Their production of the popular rock musical opened last January 21, 2010 and runs until February 21, 2010.
