West Side Story took home the award for Best Cinematography at at the 2021 New York Film Critics Awards. Kathryn Hunter has been named Best Supporting Actress in Apple's adaption of Tragedy of Macbeth. Lady Gaga also won for for Best Actress in House of Gucci and Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Lost Daughter won Best First Film.

Rachel Zegler has been named Best Actress of the year by the National Board of Review for her performance as Maria in West Side Story. The organization has also named West Side Story as one of the top films of the year.
