D.W. Gregory's political thriller Memoirs of a Forgotten Man will receive an industry reading on Thursday, December 1 at 2:30 p.m. Directed by James Glossman, the reading takes place at the Mary Rodgers Room at the Dramatists Guild.

New Jersey Repertory Company (NJ Rep) in Long Branch is now presenting the National New Play Network premiere of “Eden Prairie, 1971.” Crafted by the award-winning playwright, Mat Smart, the story is enthralling from the first minute to the last.

NJ Rep will present its first outdoor short play festival on Saturday, August 28 and Sunday, August 29 at 2pm and 5pm. The performances are free and will be held at their West End Arts Center, 132 West End Avenue, Long Branch. There is free parking in their lot off of Sairs Avenue.

The play is inspired, in part, by a 2015 controversy at Yale, where a professor’s email set off a debate and subsequent protests about the role white supremacy can play on campus, contributing to a hostile environment for students of color. It explores the critical need for communication and reaching across a divide to find a place of understanding.

National New Play Network, the alliance of professional theaters that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, held its annual benefit Monday night at The Vineyard's Dimson Theatre in New York City.
