You can go anywhere on the Internet and Google how to write a play. You will likely get generic answers like: Understand your theater space, write realistic dialogue, create characters the audience can relate to, write suspenseful stories with high stakes, and don't be afraid to rewrite and make edits. All of these simple statements are true, but they can turn off a beginning writer because they aren't specific enough. In this piece, I'd like to offer some unique perspective for a young writer that is just beginning. Here you will read about my personal tricks for developing characters and finding your individual voice as a writer.

Owl City Set Releases Stripped Down EP Today

Owl City's Adam Young picked a few of his favorite songs from his latest full-length studio release The Midsummer Station including the now double-platinum hit single 'Good Time' (video nearing 100 Million views) along with 'Gold,'and 'Shooting Star' - recorded stripped down versions of these and paired them with two never-before-released songs - 'Hey Anna' and 'I Hope You Think of Me' to create the The Midsummer Station Acoustic EP. Due out today, July 30th on Republic Records, the EP comes nearly a year after the album release and will be followed by a month of headlining dates in addition to festival dates in North America as well as Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Beijing and Singapore.

Tomorrow night, The Salvation Army will present the third annual Rock the Red Kettle Concert, produced by Specktor Media, featuring a mix of today's top music artists including Owl City, Hot Chelle Rae, Andy Grammer , Bridgit Mendler , and Sonus. The free concert on Saturday, December 15, which will be open to the general public and support the Army's annual Red Kettle Campaign, will begin at 7:30 p.m. PST, at L.A. Walt Disney Records To Release WRECK-IT RALPH Soundtrack on 10/30

Walt Disney Records will release the soundtrack for the Walt Disney Animation Studios film 'Wreck-It Ralph' on Oct. 30, 2012, which features four new songs and a score by composer Henry Jackman ('Winnie the Pooh,' 'X-Men: First Class'). Owl City contributes the end-credit song 'When Can I See You Again?' Directed by Rich Moore, produced by Clark Spencer and featuring the voices of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch, 'Wreck-It Ralph' crashes into theatres on Nov. 2, 2012.

This year's breakout pop sensation Carly Rae Jepsen releases her eagerly anticipated U.S. debut album, entitled, Kiss, today via 604 Records/Schoolboy Records/Interscope Records. The Canadian singer and songwriter wrote or co-wrote songs on the album, collaborating with songwriters and producers Max Martin, Dallas Austin, LMFAO's Redfoo, Toby Gad, Marianas Trench singer Josh Ramsay and Matthew Koma. "This Kiss," another surefire pop earworm co-written by Jepsen and produced by LMFAO's Redfoo and Cherrytree/Interscope artist Matthew Koma, is the first single from the album which Billboard says is "poised to be the Canadian's singer's second stuck-in-your-head hit" while Entertainment Weekly raves about the track's "fun fizzy dance beat."
