Last night, the best of Broadway gathered at Carnegie Hall to join The New York Pops, led by Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke, for its 39th Birthday Gala, For the First Time In Forever: The Songs of Kristen and Bobby Lopez.

AFM Local 802 is celebrating its 100th birthday with live music and visits from top elected officials on Tuesday, Oct. 12 from 1pm to 5pm at the Naumburg Bandshell at Central Park, including a proclamation from the City of New York honoring Local 802 on its centennial.

Joining the board at its annual fall meeting on October 7, 2021, were music director Ted Arthur, City National Bank Executive Vice President Linda Duncombe, actor Mandy Gonzalez, lyricist/composer Amanda Green, Times Square Alliance Executive Director Tom Harris, stage manager Kenneth J. McGee and actor John Eric Parker.

AFM Local 802 President Adam Krauthamer and 16 elected officials from across New York have called on the New York City Ballet to negotiate with its musicians and settle on a fair contract.

AFM Local 802 President Adam Krauthamer has released a statement addressing the return-to-work deal made with the Broadway League. 

According to the union's statement, Arbitrator Peek 'found that the twenty-four weeks of guaranteed employment, as set forth in the parties’ collective bargaining agreement (CBA), was not a 'guarantee of compensation' at all, but merely a guarantee of 'performances.'' Therefore, with there being no performances, there was no obligation to pay the musicians.

The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment and AFM Local 802 have launched “Music Heals,” a new program of paid gigs for musicians, who will play for vaccine staff and recipients.  The performances will take place at 11 City-run vaccination centers across the five boroughs through June 20th.

The musicians union, AFM Local 802, is celebrating the news that Broadway is aiming for a fall comeback.

Start spreading the news! New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio spoke live from City Hall this morning to announce plans to start vaccinating theatre workers.

Adam Krauthamer, president of the New York City musicians’ union (Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians) has released a statement criticizing New York's  Open Culture initiative, which does not require that performers be paid when they’re asked to perform.

Local 802 President Adam Krauthamer has released a statmenet in response to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announcing that venues, including theaters, would open up to 33% capacity for indoor performances in April.

Award-winning conductor Riccardo Muti, the music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, is supporting the musicians of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. In his statement on Jan. 10, Maestro Muti wrote:

AFM Local 802 has released a statement on the outsourcing of musicians for last night's Metropolitan Opera Gala.

The Metropolitan Opera said on Monday that it will lock out its stagehands at midnight amidst the labor dispute between the company and the union representing the workers.
