Goodman Theatre revives Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years, Emily Mann's "warming theatrical event" (Variety)that celebrates the lives of "two strong, vibrant women dispensing joy and wisdom" (Chicago Tribune). Goodman Theatre Resident Director Chuck Smith's production features Ella Joyce and Marie Thomas as the Delany centenarians, Bessie (1891 - 1995) and Sadie (1889 -1999), respectively, as they trace their lives in a heartfelt reflection of their family history and triumphs over prejudices in times of social unrest.
Morningside Players' HAVING OUR SAY Inaugurates North of History Performance Space

From February 16 to March 5, The Morningside Players will present Carol Carter and Edythe Jason in 'Having Our Say: The Delaney Sisters' First 100 Years' by Emily Mann, adapted from the book by Sarah H. Delany and A. Elizabeth Delany. It will be the inaugural theater production at North of History, a new performance/gallery space founded by Gene Kaufman that is located at 445 Columbus Ave. (between 81st and 82nd Street). Edgar Chisholm directs.
Susan Miller's 20TH CENTURY BLUES Gets New York Premiere

Producer Lida Orzeck and Executive Producer Eva Price are pleased to announce the New York premiere of the new play, 20TH CENTURY BLUES, from Susan Smith Blackburn Prize-winner and two-time OBIE Award-winning playwright Susan Miller (My Left Breast). Two-time OBIE Award-winner and Tony Award-nominee Emily Mann (Having Our Say, Anna in the Tropics) will direct the 10-week limited engagement beginning November 12 with performances through January 28 and an official opening night set for November 26. 20TH CENTURY BLUES will play at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 W. 42nd Street).

The Hermitage Artist Retreat is pleased to announce that multi-award-winning Director and Playwright Emily Mann will head its National Artist Advisory Committee, replacing Brooklyn Academy of Music Executive Producer Joseph V. Melillo, who has held the position since its inception in 2005. The group is responsible for recommending mid-career artists who are invited to receive six-week residencies at the Hermitage Artist Retreat on Manasota Key in Englewood, FL. The prestigious committee includes some of America's finest directors, curators, and artists. Serving with Ms. Mann are Dr. Tony Bannon, Director Burchfield-Penny Arts Center; Dan Cameron, former Chief Curator, Orange County Museum of Art; Michael Bigelow Dixon, Assistant Professor of Theater, Transylvania University; Kenneth Fischer, President, University Musical Society; Linda S. In keeping with its 2014/15 American Melting Pot theme (a look at four distinct cultures by four critically-acclaimed playwrights), The Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre (CVRep) is set to present their second main stage production, Having Our Say, The Delany Sister's First Hundred Years. Written by Emily Mann and adapted from the book of the same name by real-life sisters, Sarah L. and A. Elizabeth Delany with Amy Hill Hearth, Having Our Say will be performed at the Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre in Rancho Mirage from January 21 to February 8, 2015.
