Chester Theatre Company (CTC) is delighted to bring The Light by Loy A. Webb, to the Chester Town Hall Theatre, 15 Middlefield Road, Chester, MA, from July 27th to August 6th, with performances Wednesday at 2pm, Thursday at 2pm and 7:30pm, Friday at 7:30pm, Saturday at 2pm and 7:30pm and Sunday at 2pm.

Directed by J. Paul Nicholas and starring Abdul Sesay and Angela Bey, The Light centers on the hot-and-cold engagement night of two youngish Chicagoans as they wind up reliving their romantic pinnacles alongside their separate, secreted traumas around sexual assault.

THE LIGHT, the current offering at The Black Rep, is Loy A. Webb’s two-character play that takes on the painful topic of sexual assault and the victim’s devastation. Newly engaged couple Genesis and Rashad are celebrating when Genesis speaks a painful truth and Rashad deflects to protect the aggressor instead of the victim. Quickly their romantic evening unravels as Genesis sheds THE LIGHT on an assault that went unreported and unpunished.
