David Pittu BIO

David Pittu is a versatile actor, writer, and director who has made a name for himself both on and off Broadway. Born in 1967 in New Jersey, Pittu began his career in theater in the early 1990s, and has since appeared in numerous productions on the Great White Way.
Pittu's Broadway debut came in 1995, when he appeared in the musical "Smokey Joe's Cafe." He went on to appear in a number of other musicals, including "Titanic," "The Secret Garden," and "LoveMusik." He also has a number of straight plays to his credit, including "The Coast of Utopia," "Is He Dead?," and "What's That Smell: The Music of Jacob Sterling."
In addition to his work on stage, Pittu has also made a name for himself on television and in film. He has appeared in a number of popular TV shows, including "Law & Order," "Sex and the City," and "The Good Wife." He has also appeared in a number of films, including "The Rebound," "The Nanny Diaries," and "The Family Fang."
Pittu is also an accomplished writer and director. His play "What's That Smell: The Music of Jacob Sterling" was a hit Off-Broadway, and he has also written and directed a number of other plays and musicals. He has been nominated for several awards for his work as a writer and director, including a Drama Desk Award and a Lucille Lortel Award.
One of Pittu's most notable roles on Broadway came in 2010, when he appeared in the musical "The House of Blue Leaves." In the production, which was directed by David Cromer, Pittu played the role of Artie Shaughnessy, a zookeeper who dreams of becoming a famous songwriter. The production was a critical and commercial success, and Pittu's performance was singled out for praise by many critics.
Another notable role for Pittu came in the 2014 revival of "LoveMusik," in which he played the legendary composer Kurt Weill. The production, which also starred Michael Cerveris and Donna Murphy, was a hit with audiences and critics alike, and Pittu's performance was once again singled out for praise.
In recent years, Pittu has continued to work on and off Broadway. In 2017, he appeared in the musical "War Paint," which starred Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole. The production, which was directed by Michael Greif, told the story of cosmetics pioneers Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden. Pittu played the role of Harry Fleming, a fictional character based on several real-life figures.
Most recently, Pittu appeared in the 2019 Off-Broadway production of "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui," which was directed by John Doyle. In the play, which was written by Bertolt Brecht, Pittu played the role of Dogsborough, a character who is betrayed by the title character, a Chicago gangster who rises to power in the 1930s.

North Carolina Theatre Announces Full Cast for RING OF FIRE


North Carolina Theatre has announced the full cast for Ring of Fire with music and lyrics by Johnny Cash directed by Randy Redd, who was a part of the Original Broadway cast of Ring of Fire.  Performances will run from April 29 – May 8 at A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh.
