BroadwayWorld UK spoke to Chris and Henry about what it is like to be playing the same role in two different shows in New York, only three blocks away from each other. We discussed how they have grown with the role, why Chris Bean may be the most tragic character in the Cornley Drama Society and the differences between British and American audiences.

The long running hit, The Play That Goes Wrong has a whole lotta changes going on and is celebrating a few milestones. It plays at New World Stages. Beginning Monday July 25, Chris Lanceley takes over the role of Chris Bean, Chris French goes on as Jonathan, and Russell Mernagh temporarily joins the company in the role of Max until August 22.

Since theatre has returned to New York City, I have seen many different shows. I’ve been to musicals, plays, and even interactive shows. But nothing can compare to one of the modern classic plays, The Play That Goes Wrong. I’ve been lucky enough to see it twice over the past two months, and even knowing all of the twists and turns, the second performance ended up being just as entertaining, if not more, than the first! Recently, I had the opportunity to interview Chris Lanceley, who plays “Jonathan” in the off-Broadway production of The Play That Goes Wrong at New World Stages.

At the time of performance, The Play That Goes Wrong will have played 27 previews and 745 performances on Broadway and 9 previews and 453 performances Off-Broadway.

The producers of the international hit comedy The Play That Goes Wrong have announced the cast for the New York production, which will resume performances on the Tony Award winning set at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street) on Friday, October 15, 2021.

State Theatre New Jersey presents the hilarious Tony Award-winning hit Broadway comedy The Play That Goes Wrong for four performances on Thursday, April 2 at 8pm; Friday, April 3 at 8pm; and Saturday, April 4 at 2pm and 8pm. Tickets range from $40-$98.

The Play That Goes Wrong has announced that due to popular demand tickets are now on sale through May 24, 2020. The production played its 945th performance in New York on Thursday, August 14th including 200 performances at New World Stages.
