The Joint Is Jumpin' At Winter Park Playhouse This Winter

The Winter Park Playhouse continues its series of professional musicals into the new year with their production of Ain't Misbehavin'. The show features a score of songs made famous by the iconic Fats Waller and runs January 25 through February 23 , 2019. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., Thursday and Saturday matinee performances at 2 p.m. and select Friday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

This high energy musical, conceived by Richard Maltby, Jr. and Murray Horwitz, evokes the intoxicating music of Fats Waller with an insight into the vibrant time in American history and music. The cast of five triple threat actors along with a live professional band, will strut, strum and sing the songs made famous in a career that ranged from the Cotton Club to Tin Pan Alley to Hollywood and concert stages in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

This Tony-Award winning Broadway show boasts a score of well-known jazz standards including "This Joint Is Jumpin'," "I Can't Give You Anything But Love," "Honeysuckle Rose," the title song "Ain't Misbehavin'," and many more!

The topnotch cast brings four new faces to The Playhouse mainstage - Patrece Bloomfield, Faith Boles, Meka King and Shonn McCloud. They will join returning Playhouse veteran Deejay Young whom audiences have seen previously in both The Rat Pack Lounge (Sammy Davis, Jr.) and I Left My Heart - A Salute To Tony Bennett.

Playhouse Artistic Director Roy Alan will direct and choreograph and resident Playhouse Music Director, Christopher Leavy, will music direct and conduct a six-piece band giving powerful sound to the well known score.

This project is sponsored in part by a grant from Duke Energy through United Arts of Central Florida, Orange County Government through the Arts and Cultural Affairs Program and the Winter Park Community Redevelopment Agency.

Ticket prices are $42 evenings, $39 senior evenings, $32 matinees, $20 preview, $15 student and theatrical industry professionals. Student rush "$10@10" offers $10 tickets (for students 25 years and younger) 10 minutes prior to a performance when seats are available.
