Set during World War II, Operation Crucible tells about lives of four men, Bob, Tommy, Phil, and Andrew, all locals who live in Sheffield and work at the city's steel factory. The men have a true camaraderie and share common interests but their personalities and life styles are quite different. Times are difficult and tensions are on the rise as enemy planes frequently pass over the city. And when Sheffield is bombed, the four men are trapped together under the rubble of the Marples Hotel fearing for their lives and for the fate of their families. The story is a timeless perspective of the chaotic effects that war has on civilians.
