Virginia Repertory Theatre announces the opening of Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical on Friday, July 13, 2018, at The Children's Theatre at Willow Lawn. Based on the Caldecott Honor-winning picture book, author Mo Willems has adapted his cautionary tale for the stage. With Willems as book writer and lyricist and Michael Silversher as composer, this wacky, heartwarming tale of kerfuffle is bubbly, colorful, and perfect for kids and adults alike.

The show will run through August 12, 2018 at The Children's Theatre at Willow Lawn, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive, Richmond, Virginia 23230.

Richmond actress Susan Sanford will be at the helm of this production as director. Sanford was most recently seen in Cadence Theatre Company's production of Appropriate in partnership with Virginia Rep. Other recent Virginia Rep acting credits include Shakespeare in Love, Airline Highway and A Christmas Story: The Musical. Directing credits include Goodnight Moon and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.

Jason Marks will join the team as Music Director, after most recently musical directing last summer's production of The Little Engine That Could, a musical commissioned by Virginia Rep that he co-wrote with Scott Wichmann. Other Virginia Rep musical directing credits include Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Croaker the Musical, for which he also wrote the music. Recent acting credits include Little Shop of Horrors (Mill Mountain Theatre) and Virginia Rep's 1776.

A small but energetic cast has been assembled for this show, including Louise Ricks (Da, Charitable Sisterhood), Brandon Johns (Golden Goose, Beauty and the Beast) and Virginia Rep newcomers Christina Ramsey, David Janosik, Eve Marie Tuck and Corinne Maclean.

Set Design is by Virginia Rep's Scenic Charge, Emily Hake Massie, Lighting Design is by BJ Wilkinson (River Ditty, Pinkalicious The Musical) and Costume Design is by Ruth Hedberg (Pinkalicious The Musical, The Little Engine That Could). Puppet Design and Props will be managed by Richmond actress Kylie Clark (Dancing Lessons).
