Virginia Rep opens Ken Ludwig's holiday whodunit The Game's Afoot: Holmes for the Holidays on Friday, November 30 at the Hanover Tavern, the first show of the 2018-19 Hanover Season. This "murderously funny" farce follows Broadway star William Gillette, admired worldwide for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, as he must reprise his role in order to solve the mystery of his own attempted murder during holiday festivities with his castmates. The show runs through January 6, 2019 at the Hanover Tavern, 13181 Hanover Courthouse Road, Hanover, Virginia 23069.

Director Debra Clinton returns to the Tavern stage after directing last year's holiday hit, Miracle on South Division Street. Clinton's other recent directing credits for Virginia Rep include 1776, The Whipping Man and the family hit Croaker: The Frog Prince Musical, which she co-wrote with Jason Marks.

For this farcical thriller, Clinton has assembled a talented cast of Richmond favorites. Scott Wichmann leads the cast as Broadway star, William Gillette. Wichmann's most recent Virginia Rep credits include River Ditty, Shakespeare in Love, and The End of War. He was also featured as John Adams in both the FOX television series Legends and Lies: The Patriots and Virginia Rep's 2016 production of 1776. Catherine Shaffner (Erma Bombeck: At Wit's End, Charitable Sisterhood), Audra Honaker (Mame) and Donna Marie Miller (Charitable Sisterhood), all featured in last holiday season's Miracle on South Division Street, also join the company. The full cast list is below.

Set Design is by Terrie Powers (Crimes of the Heart, Erma Bombeck: At Wit's End), Costume Design is by Sue Griffin (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Crimes of the Heart), and Lighting Design is by BJ Wilkinson (Curious Incident..., West Side Story).
