Theater Legend Charles Busch Opens RTP's 2018-19 Cabaret Season Richmond Triangle Players is proud to announce that theater legend Charles Busch will launch RTP's 2018-19 Cabaret Season with his acclaimed show "My Kinda 60s". Performances are Friday and Saturday, September 7 and 8, both at 8 pm.

A Tony nominee, Drama Desk Lifetime Achievement honoree and two-time MAC Award winner, Charles Busch employs all of his skills as performer and playwright in his new act that gets to the essence of this legendary entertainer. Weaving tales of his Manhattan childhood and adolescence raised by his indomitable Aunt Lillian through the lens of the tumultuous decade of the 1960's, Charles will be singing a great songbook from Broadway to Pop, featuring the work of among others Burt Bacharach, Jimmy Webb, the Beatles, Henry Mancini, Joni Mitchell, Stephen Sondheim, and Kander and Ebb. Songs include Two for the Road, Anyone Who Had a Heart and Both Sides Now.

Charles Busch is the author and star of such plays as The Divine Sister, Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, The Tribute Artist and The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, which ran for nearly two years on Broadway and received a Tony nomination for Best Play. He wrote and starred in the film versions of his plays, Psycho Beach Party and Die Mommie Die, the latter of which won him the Best Performance Award at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2003, Mr. Busch received a special Drama Desk Award for career achievement as both performer and playwright. He is also the subject of the acclaimed documentary film The Lady in Question is Charles Busch.

He is a two-time MAC award winner and has performed his cabaret act in many cities including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New Orleans, Atlanta, Philadelphia, London, Paris, Barcelona and New York. In winter of 2016, his show The Lady at the Mic premiered at Jazz at Lincoln Center's American Songbook series. His first CD, Charles Busch Live at Feinstein's 54 Below, has just been released by Broadwayrecords. He can be found on the web at Charlesbusch.com.

He will be appearing with his long-time musical director/arranger Tom Judson in this hilarious and poignant evening of music and storytelling. Tom has appeared on Broadway in the Roundabout Theater production of Cabaret at Studio 54. He toured the country in that show and in 42nd Street. He composed the score to Whit Stillman's indie film classic Metropolitan and has written songs for Sesame Street, Ann Magnuson, Lisa Kron and many others. Tom is also an author (Laid Bare), magazine columnist and Huffington Post contributor.

RTP's 2018-19 Cabaret Season will continue with performances by America's first out pop star Sir Ari Gold on October 27, and local favorites Scott Wichmann with two shows on New Year's Eve, and Georgia Rogers Farmer on February 7-9, with further shows to be announced. All performances will take place at Richmond Triangle Players' home at the Robert B. Moss Theatre at 1300 Altamont Avenue, just northwest of the intersection of the Boulevard and West Broad Street. Subscriptions to the entire announced season are also available now.

The Robert B. Moss Theatre is a 4000-square foot performing arts facility accommodating flexible seating arrangements for up to 90 patrons. The building features fully ADA-compliant access and comfortable restrooms, as well as a generous bar, and catering capability, and is also available for cabaret performances and private events.
