The Wedding Gift
a new musical debut
Book by

Music & Lyrics by
Nancy Carlson Dodd & Dori Erwin Collins
The Wedding Gift takes place during a more “innocent” era … in the early 1950’s. Arthur and Cynthia Ferguson are scam artists who move briefly from one city to another, targeting wealthy bachelors. In each city, their charming, single daughter then becomes engaged to their “target”; and when the extravagant wedding gifts come pouring in, the Fergusons abscond with them just before the wedding and sell them at their gift shop in Maine. The engagement ring also brings in a sizeable sum. It’s a happy scam that takes them into the best homes and elegant country Their current scam, however, runs into an unexpected complication! This results in surprises, laughs, and a very unusual wedding gift. The Wedding Gift is a light hearted musical comedy with outlandish characters you will never forget.

Audition Requirements - It is very important that we have a list of ALL CONFLICTS at the time of the audition.
Prepare and memorize one verse of an up-tempo song or ballad which shows off your voice, range, and personality. If you’re interested in a character role, you may prepare a song appropriate for that character. Be sure to bring sheet music (not just lyrics but actual piano music) in the correct key – do not expect the pianist to transpose your music on sight. Have all cuts or repetitions clearly marked. Place your music in a binder or tape the sheets together for the benefit of the accompanist. Pianist is provided. Plan to wear appropriate clothing (dance attire or sweat pants & sneakers or jazz shoes) for the dance portion of the audition, which will be taught on site. We encourage actors of all ethnicities to audition. Auditions will be held at the Arts United Center at
303 East Main Street. Enter from the rear of the building, using the glass doors to the Green Room.

The links to the script and sample music recordings are below (full orchestration are currently being created with a New York composer).
