Granite Theatre announces auditions for Neil Simon’s Comedy

The Prisoner of 2nd Avenue”

The Granite Theatre of Westerly, will be holding auditions for the Neil Simon’s comedy “The Prisoner of 2nd Avenue”. The auditions are Monday, May 21 and Tuesday, May 22 at 7 pm at the theatre, 1 Granite Street, Westerly, RI. The show is produced by David Jepson and directed by Jude Pescatello. There are 14 performances for the show between August 3 and August 26, 2018.

Mel Edison is a well-paid executive of a high-end Manhattan firm, which has suddenly hit the skids, and he gets the ax. His wife Edna takes a job to tide them over, then she too is sacked. Compounded by the air-pollution killing his plants, and with the walls of the apartment being paper-thin, allowing him a constant earful of his neighbors’ private lives, things can't seem to get any worse when his psychiatrist dies. Mel does the only thing left for him to do-he has a nervous breakdown and it's the best thing that ever happened to him... As hilarious as it is topical. Possibly Neil Simon’s funniest show!

The theatre is looking for 2 men able to play in their 40’s to 60’s and 4 women to play 40’s to 60’s. All roles are open in this hilarious comedy. No appointments are necessary. Please bring a head shot or current photo with you to the audition if you have not auditioned with us previously. Readings will be from the script

All cast and crew receive stipend payments for performances. For further information, you may contact Jude Pescatello at 860-912-0977 or David Jepson at 401-348-0555 . Directions to the theatre are available at our website www.granitetheatre.com
