GOODSPEED HOLDS AUDITIONS FOR LOCAL CHILD ACTORS FOR THE 2019 SEASON

Goodspeed Musicals is holding local child auditions for its 2019 season, on Sunday, November 4th from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in East Haddam, Conn. Auditions will be for both roles and understudy positions.

All auditions are by appointment only. Appointments may be made starting immediately. Please call (860) 873-8664, ext. 721, Monday through Friday, 9 am - 5 p.m.

The Goodspeed 2019 season will be The Music Man (3/12-6/20), Because of Winn Dixie (5/29-9/5) and Billy Elliot (8/13-11/23). Candidates must be available for four weeks of rehearsal and a 12-week performance run.

For The Music Man we are looking for boys and girls ages 7-16 for Winthrop, Amaryllis, Gracie and members of the ensemble. Ability to play a marching band instrument a plus but not necessary.

For Because of Winn Dixie we are looking for boys and girls with between the ages of 7 and 16 that are strong singers with a contemporary voice. Candidates that look younger are encouraged to audition.

For Billy Elliot we are looking for boys and girls with strong dance ability between the ages of 7 and 16.

Interested performers should bring a resume, photo and sheet music and be prepared to sing two short numbers: an up-tempo song and a ballad. Music must be legible and in the proper key (No lead sheets please). An accompanist will be provided.

Goodspeed produces three musicals each season at The Goodspeed in East Haddam, Conn., and additional productions at The Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn., which was opened in 1984 for the development of new musicals. Goodspeed also maintains The Scherer Library of Musical Theatre and The Max Showalter Center for Education in Musical Theatre.
