Pioneer Theatre Company UPCOMING AUDITIONS CAGNEY and THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT Pioneer Theatre Company is holding auditions for Cagney, the pre-Broadway musical, which will run September 20 – October 5, 2019; and The Lifespan of a Fact which will run from November 1 - November 16, 2019.
Cagney is the award-winning musical which follows the life of the legendary James Cagney from the streets of New York to his rise as one of the brightest stars of Hollywood, from a vaudeville song-and-dance man to the cinema’s original tough guy.
The Lifespan of a Fact is about how a demanding editor has given an eager young fact checker a big assignment: apply his skill to a groundbreaking piece by an unorthodox author on a sensitive subject. The resulting conflict between fact-checker and author casts a comic light on the intersection between truth and art. In an era of #FakeNews and #AlternativeFacts, it might seem ripped from today’s news, but the story, fresh from its successful run on Broadway, was inspired by real life events that predate even Twitter!
Auditions will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. is reserved for Actors Equity Association members ONLY. Callbacks will determined at a future date, by invitation only.
Cagney auditions are 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. (Actors' Equity Association members only.) There will be no open call for Cagney. The Lifespan of a Fact auditions are 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (Actors' Equity Association members only from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.)
Please be aware that PTC does not accept video or online submissions. Rehearsal dates for Cagney are August 12 – September 19, 2019; performance dates are September 20 – October 5, 2019. Rehearsal dates for The Lifespan of a Fact are October 7 – October 31, 2019; performance dates are November 1 – November 16, 2019.
All auditions will be held in the Babcock Theatre at Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to audition. Auditioners must come in to sign up on the callboard in Room 325 at the Roy W. and Elizabeth E. Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. For Cagney please prepare a traditional musical theatre selection. For The Lifespan of a Fact sides will be available at sign up.
