BE MORE CHILL - Ocala Civic Theatre

The Education Department at Ocala Civic Theatre announces auditions for the Summer 2018 Musical, Be More Chill. Auditions, for High School and College students, will be held on Monday, May 21st and Tuesday, May 22nd at 7 pm. Students are asked to prepare a 32-bar song in the style of the show: modern pop/rock musical theatre Students will not be permitted to sing from the score. Please bring your sheet music with you, the theatre will have sheet music available if needed. Students should come to the audition dressed to move as there will be a dance call as a part of these auditions. Callbacks, if needed, will be held Tuesday, May 22nd after auditions are over. Be More Chill contains adult content; any student cast in the show under the age of eighteen will need their parent’s approval to be in the show.

Rehearsals will begin Monday, June 11th and run through Friday, July 20th. Rehearsals will run from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm (which may change depending upon the cast’s conflicts) for those weeks. Tech Week rehearsals will begin the weekend of July 20th (times TBD) and Tech Rehearsals from Monday, July 23rd – Friday, July 26th from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm.

Be More Chill
Jeremy Heere is just an average teenager. That is until he finds out about “The Squip” – a tiny supercomputer that promises to bring him everything he desires most: a date with Christine, an invite to the raddest party of the year and a chance to survive life in his suburban New Jersey high school. But is being the most popular guy in school worth the risk? Based on the novel by Ned Vizzini.

Friday, July 27th; Saturday, July 28th; Thursday, August 2nd; Friday, August 3rd & Saturday, August 4th at 8 pm.
Sunday, July 29th & Sunday, August 5th at 2 pm.
