PROVERBS 11:29 Will Be Presented At The Hudson Guild Theater As Part Of The The New York Theater Festival's Summerfest 2018

New Jersey Playwright and Director Matthew Yee will be debuting his latest production, "Proverbs 11:29" at the Hudson Guild Theater as part of the New York Festival's Summerfest 2018 on Monday, September 3 at 6:15pm, Friday, September 7 at 9pm and Sunday, September 9 at 3:30pm.

This 90 min play follows Mark (Sean Begane) who returns home post his father's death for Christmas. He has one goal in mind and that's to introduce his new boyfriend to his family. The only downside is: his religious mother (Judi Alexander) and sister (Samantha Truglio) don't know he's gay.

Playwright and director Matthew Yee says, "Proverbs 11:29 was a bit of an accident when writing. I originally wrote a play, which was produced in 2016, entitled Don't Let Me Go and the characters in that piece inspired me to dive further into their own stories. Proverbs 11:29 is, but a moment and a glimpse into the Mark's character before he goes onto the events in Don't Let Me Go. I am so excited to have been given the opportunity to bring this show to life, but to work with such a dedicated and hardworking people. All of us working on this piece feel strongly about its messages of love, inclusion, and family values and we're glad to hold up a the light to a world we're not talking about and just accepting as a cultural norm."

Since 2012, New York Theater Festival has served New York City based playwrights, offering a chance to stage their works with a chance to win cash prizes.
