BWW Previews: You Can't Take It With You at Dawson College

The Professional Theatre Program at Dawson College will be presenting its end of year production You Can't Take It With You, by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, this month. The production is directed by Matt Enos and features Dawson College Theatre students in their third and final year of the program.

You Can't Take It With You is a delightful three-act comedy that takes place in a New York City house during the Great Depression. The home is inhabited by the kooky Vanderhof-Sycamore family, a group of eccentric social outliers who spend their days pursuing unorthodox activities in the family home. There are Grandpa Vanderhof, tax evader and snake collector, his daughter Penelope Vanderhof-Sycamore, writer of sexy melodramas and Penelope's husband, Paul Sycamore, who manufactures fireworks with his assistant in the family's basement. Penelope and Paul's first daughter Essie, a wanna-be ballerina with two left feet, makes candy in the family kitchen, while her xylophone-playing husband Ed tries to sell it. Alice, Essie's sister appears to be the only "normal" one in this eclectic and batty bunch. To see how these and many other characters move through hilarious exchanges and familial clashes come and see the talented Dawson cast bring these characters to life in their final performance as theatre students.

Dawson Theatre previews for You Can't Take It With You are Monday & Tuesday, April 16th & 17th at 7:30 pm, followed by performances from Wednesday to Saturday, April 18th-21st and 25th-28th at 8:00 pm.

Admission: Regular $15; Seniors and Non-Dawson Students $10; Dawson Community $5
