MURPHY'S CELTIC LEGACY to Fill the Stage at Alberta Bair Theater

Alberta Bair Theater presents Murphy's Celtic Legacy, a next generation Irish dance spectacular with original music, dance, and story on Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m.

Featuring dancers and musician from Riverdance, Lord of the Dance, and Celtic Woman, Murphy's Celtic Legacy is Irish dance reborn. Created by Chris Hannon, former principal dancer for Lord of the Dance, the choreography combines traditional Irish and modern dance techniques, along with multimedia elements. Nineteen dancers and a seven piece band weave an original story drawn from Irish folklore-a tale of kings and queens, rebels and magic, epic battles between good and evil.

The story, told at times by masked dancers, centers on an original storyline developed by Hannon about the Murphy clan who flees the corrupt tyrants of their native Eire in search of a better future. They come ashore on the island of Ishan where they encounter Ishas, the indigenous community of the Murphy's new home. Pursued by the Dark Queen of Eire, the Murphys and the Ishas unite in their shared quest for peace and to overcome evil.

This performance by Murphy's Celtic Legacy is sponsored by ISU Insurance Services Streeter Brothers, and CatCountry102.9. Tickets, $57/$42/$30 and $25 for students with valid I.D., are available at the Alberta Bair Theater Box Office on the corner of 3rd Ave N and N Broadway, by phone at 406-256-6052 (box office hours are Monday through Friday, 10-5; Saturday 10-3) and/or online at www.albertabairtheater.org.

About Chris Hannon

Chris has competed in every major Irish dance competition across the world. At the age of 16 he went on tour with Michael Flatley in Lord of the Dance. By the age of 20 Chris was performing the leading role "Don Dorcha" in both Lord of the Dance and Feet of Flames and is only one of five principal dancers to have performed his role alongside Michael in both productions. After producing for successful pilot shows throughout 2013, Chris knew the time was finally right to launch is own show. Murphy's Legacy premiered in January 2015 to critical acclaim. The name Murphy's Celtic Legacy is a tribute to Hannon's grandmother who founded the Hannon Murphy School of Irish Dancing in the Northeast of England.
