Zoetic Stage and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County present THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME, Simon Stephens' Tony Award-winning adaptation based on Mark Haddon's best-selling novel. Playing January 17-February 3, 2019 in the intimate Carnival Studio Theater (Ziff Ballet Opera House), THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME continues Zoetic Stage's 2018-2019 season at the Arsht Center as part of the Center's Theater Up Close Series.

Directed by Stuart Meltzer, THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME tells the story of fifteen-year-old Christopher, a young man who is exceptionally intelligent but not well equipped to deal with everyday life. When he falls under suspicion for killing his neighbor's dog, he sets out to identify the true culprit, which leads to an earth-shattering discovery that will change his life. This is an incredible journey to the world of a very special mind.

ABOUT THE CAST AND CREATIVES

Stephen G. Anthony (Ed) recently completed an off-Broadway run of Real Men: The Musical. His association with Zoetic goes all the way back to day one, having appeared in Michael McKeever's South Beach Babylon, and, more recently, in Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George and Passion, as well as Christopher Demos Brown's Fear Up Harsh. Steve has two Carbonell awards to his credit, for Sylvia and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. In 2002, Steve originated the role of Hoss in Hank Williams: Lost Highway in New York and has reprised the role in regional theaters across the country.

Ryan Didato's (Christopher Boone) regional theater credits include: Wrongful Death at Zoetic Stage at the Arsht Center; Dracula at Actors Theatre of Louisville (Louisville, KY); The Goldberg Variations at Island City Stage; 12 Angry Men at Florida Repertory Theatre (Ft. Myers, Fla.); Red (Carbonell nominated, Best Supporting Actor); Cock, Casa Valentina, White Guy on the Bus, and Speech & Debate at GableStage; The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge and Becky's New Car at Actors' Playhouse; The Irish Curse (Carbonell Award, Best Ensemble) at Mosaic Theatre; Enchanted April at the Waterfront Playhouse (Key West, Fla.). Didato received his B.F.A. from University of Florida/New World School of the Arts.

Niki Fridh (Judy) most recently appeared in Theater Lab's productions of Tar Beach and Ronia, and The Robber's Daughter in Boca Raton. MARGERY LOWE (Voice One) was recently seen at Palm Beach Dramaworks in the world premiere of Edgar and Emily. Margery has performed in New York and across the country in various national tours, as well as at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, The MUNY, Canadian Stage, The Fox Atlanta, GableStage, Caldwell Theatre, Coconut Grove Playhouse, Actors' Playhouse, Naked Stage, American Stage, Florida Shakespeare, Royal Poinciana Playhouse, Parker Playhouse and Stage Door to name a few. As a company member of the famed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, she received a Tyrone Guthrie award. A recipient of numerous nominations, she is a Carbonell Award winner, and has also been named New Times Best Actress, and Broadway World's Best Actress.

Michael McKeever's (Voice Four) recent performances include Mr. Parker at Island City Stage, It's Only a Play and Mothers and Sons (Carbonell Nomination for Best Actor in a Play) at GableStage, the world premieres of After and Clark Gable Slept Here at Zoetic Stage at the Arsht Center, and Island City Stage's production of Dan Clancy's The Timekeepers, for which he received the Carbonell Award for Best Actor in a Play. He is also an award-winning playwright and designer, whose plays continue to be produced around the world. He is the recipient of numerous Carbonell and Silver Palm Awards. His play Daniel's Husband just closed a critically acclaimed run at The Westside Theatre in New York City. He is a founding member of Zoetic Stage in Miami.

ZACK MYERS (Voice Two) is a Miami-based actor, director, playwright, and comedian. He holds a BFA in performance from Florida International University and is the Artistic Associate and Director for the Arts Radio Network. Regional credits include: How to Use a Knife (George) and The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Night-Time (Ed Boone) both at Mixed Blood Theater in Minneapolis. Recent local favorites include the interactive piece Miami Motel Stories with Juggerknot, King Lear (Edmund) at Thinking Cap Theater, Ronia: The Robbers Daughter (Borka/N. Pete) at TheatreLAB at Florida Atlantic University.

RACHEL O'HARA (Voice Five) is a senior in the BFA Acting program at the New World School of the Arts. Her theater credits include Street Scene, Scapino! and The Orphan.

Gretchen Porro (Siobahn) has previously worked with FAU Theatre Lab, Thinking Cap Theatre, The Maltz Jupiter Theatre, The Heritage Theatre Festival, Palm Beach Dramaworks, American Stage, Island City Stage, The Arts Garage, The Asolo Repertory Theatre, The Banyan Theater Company, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, The Edinburgh Festival Fringe and more. Gretchen was named Sarasota Magazine Critic's Choice for her performance as Steph in reasons to be pretty and Lance in Two Gentlemen of Verona. Film credits: Paradise, Fl. Gretchen has a BFA from Webster University and a MFA from FSU/Asolo Theatre Conservatory.

Barbara Sloan (Voice Six) recently played at GableStage in Admissions. Previously, she worked for City Theatre and Azamara Cruises in Shorts on Ships, Impressions, Miami Motel Stories, Stalking the Boogyman, Sons of the Prophet, Vita and Virgina and The Book Club Play. Other stage appearances include the world premiere of Nilo Cruz's The Color of Desire, Agnes of God, Property Line, Nervous Smile, Wit, The Book of Ruth, Blind Date, Lost Tango, Far East, Madame Melville, A Town Like Irving, The Diaries, and the one woman shows High Dive, and 2.5 Minute Ride. Barbara is a six-time Carbonell nominee, and Silver Palm and New Timesrecipient for Best Actress in a Drama.

STUART MELZTER (Director) is the Artistic Director and a founding member of Zoetic Stage. He is the proud recipient of Carbonell Awards for Best Director of a Musical for Passion and Best Director of a Play for Clark Gable Slept Here, both at Zoetic Stage at the Arsht Center. He is also a Carbonell Award winner for Best New Work for his play The Goldberg Variations. Altogether, he has been honored with sixteen Carbonell nominations. He is pleased to return to the Carnival Studio Theater at the Arsht Center after directing Zoetic Stage's highly successful productions of Dracula, Fun Home, Dancing Lessons, Wrongful Death and Other Circus Acts,Topdog/Underdog, The Caretaker, Sunday in the Park with George, After, Passion, Rapture, Blister, Burn, Stripped, Betrayal, Trust, Detroit, The Great God Pan,Assassins, Fear Up Harsh, The Savannah Disputation, All New People, I Am My Own Wife, Moscow, The SantaLand Diaries, Captiva and South Beach Babylon. Previously, Stuart served as the Artistic Director of City Theatre in Miami, where he oversaw and expanded the Summer Shorts Festival. New York and South Florida credits include Romulus Linney's Gint, Harold Pinter's One for the Road, Aristophanes' Lysistrata, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Painted Alice, Everything Will Be Different and Melt. He is the recipient of four Silver Palm Awards for his work as the Resident Director of Zoetic Stage. He received his M.F.A. in Directing from the Actors' Studio in 2002 and B.F.A. from New World School of the Arts in Miami, where he currently serves on the faculty.

Simon Stephens (Playwright) has written several plays that have been translated into more than 30 languages and produced globally. He is a professor of playwriting at Manchester Metropolitan University, an associate playwright at The Royal Court Theatre, the artistic associate at the Lyric Hammersmith in London, and the Steep Associate Playwright at Steep Theatre in Chicago.

The play's creative team features scenic design by Michael McClain, lighting design by Rebecca Montero, costume design by Marina Pareja, sound design/original composition by Matt Corey, properties design by Natalie Taveras, choreography by Jeni Hacker, animation by Greg Duffy, projections by Steven Covey, dialect coaching by Rebecca Covey, and technical direction by B.J. Duncan. Amy Rauchwerger and Isabella Lisboa are the production's stage manager and assistant stage manager, respectively.
