Sands Point Preserve Conservancy Celebrates New Series

The Sands Point Preserve Conservancy, located on the Gold Coast of Long Island, New York, will present four magical concerts on February 2, April 6, July 13 and October 5, 2019, followed by themed dinners in four stunning locations across the Preserve. The former Guggenheim Estate's historic mansions and waterfront grounds are the backdrop. Each concert is a unique program of chamber music and poetry, inspired by themes throughout the year.

The new series offers the distinguished Lark Quartet's final concerts this year in collaboration with brilliant, internationally renowned musicians and spoken word artists including Todd Reynolds and Rebecca Fischer (Violin), Alberto Parrini (Cello), Jeffrey Ziegler (Cello), James Martin (Baritone), Yousif Sheronick (Percussion) and Nathan Koci (Accordion).

The series will present captivating, thought-provoking performances with repertoire ranging from Bach and Mozart to today's culturally diverse composers. The series is designed for adults, but children 8+ are welcome!

MORE ON KATHRYN LOCKWOOD
In this new venture as artistic director, violist Kathryn Lockwood uses her 25+ years of chamber music experience to create unique and inspiring programming. Formerly a member of Pacifica Quartet and currently a member of Lark and duoJalal, Kathryn has performed worldwide on the chamber music stage.

MORE ON THE LARK QUARTET
The New York-based Lark Quartet has contributed 34 years to the chamber music scene in America. The all-female quartet is acknowledged for its distinguished contribution to the string chamber music repertoire, commissioning over 30 new works from some of America's most celebrated composers. They are currently recording their final album together on Bridge Records with multi-Grammy winning producer, Judith Sherman. This album includes FOUR commissions by American composers Kenji Bunch, John Harbison, Andrew Waggoner and Anna Weesner. The album is scheduled for release in Fall of 2019.

The Sands Point Preserve on the original Guggenheim Estate embodies the grandeur and elegance that define the Gold Coast period of the early 20th century, when prominent American families built great mansions on large estates as summer retreats along the Long Island Sound. Sands Point peninsula was the famed "East Egg" of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby."

Today, the magnificent 216-acre park, including its historic mansions, natural forest, pond, and beachfront on the Long Island Sound, is owned by Nassau County, NY, and maintained and operated by the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Conservancy provides year-round educational and cultural programs, seasonal celebrations, mansion tours, fitness activities as well as private/corporate event services and film/TV location facilities.
