Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts will open its doors to the community for a free live viewing of the 61st Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. Doors will open at 7 p.m. to televise the pre-show coverage and the lobby bar will be open throughout the night.

For the last 60 years, the Grammys have been awarded for outstanding achievements in the music industry. The first awards ceremony was held in 1959 to honor accomplishments made in the previous year. This year, the awards will be given to artists for their work between October 1, 2017 and September 30, 2018. The ceremony will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

The Grammys award excellence in 84 categories across 30 fields or genres of music; however, not all of them are televised. The most sought after awards are considered to be part of a General Field, these are Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist. There has only been one artist in Grammy history to win all four of these categories in the same year and that was Christopher Cross in 1980, who also performed here at Patchogue Theatre in April 2018.

With a 35-foot projection screen and a top of the line sound system, Patchogue Theatre will make you feel like you're really at the Grammys!

The screening will be free for the community and will begin at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10. Doors will open at 7 p.m. to televise pre-show coverage. No tickets will be distributed for this free event. Seating availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call the box office at 631-207-1313.
