Jonathan Larson Grant Winners Emily Kaczmarek & Zoe Sarnak Take The Stage On March 24

Celebrate the next generation of artists with 2018 Jonathan Larson Grant winners Emily Kaczmarek and Zoe Sarnak as part of the Larson Legacy Concert series at Adelphi's Performing Arts Center (PAC) on Sunday, March 24. They will present songs and scenes from their musicals Afterwords and Afloat, as well as never-before-seen works in process. Afterwords is a formally inventive tale of three young women grappling with loss, and Afloat tracks teenagers navigating a dystopian U.S. ravaged by climate change.

The Larson Legacy Concert Series at the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (Adelphi PAC) honors rising artists at the college home of the creator of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musicalRENT, Jonathan Larson ('82). Each year, the American Theatre Wing presents emerging creators of musical theatre with The Jonathan Larson Grants. Past recipients of these grants have gone on to create the Broadway musicals Dear Evan Hansen, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, Grey Gardens, Next To Normal, and many more.

Kaczmarek is a playwright, librettist and screenwriter. A Kleban Prize and National Playwrights Conference finalist, she has been in residence at ACT, SPACE on Ryder Farm and more. Sarnak is a composer and lyricist whose collaborators include Marsha Norman, Danny Strong, Michael Weiner, Michael Mayer, and Brian Crawley. A Fred Ebb, Kleban, and Billie Burke Award finalist, Sarnak has been in residence at Williamstown, NYTW, McCarter, Rhinebeck and more. Both Kaczmarek and Sarnak are currently commissioned by WP Theatre and Northern Stage.

Jaki Bradley (director), Rodney Bush (music director), Rachel Sussman (producer) and Cynthia Tong (assistant producer) are the creative team behind The Larson Legacy Concert: Emily Kaczmarek & Zoe Sarnak. In addition to Kaczmarek, it features Ashley Pérez Flanagan (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet Of 1812), Taylor Iman Jones (Head Over Heels, Groundhog Day), Margo Seibert (Rocky, In Transit), Max Sheldon (Afloat) and Josh Tolle (Kinky Boots).

The Larson Legacy Concert: Emily Kaczmarek and Zoe Sarnak takes place on March 24 at 3:00 p.m. at the Olmsted Theatre at Adelphi PAC.
