GOAT ON A BOAT At Bay Street Announces August Show Dates

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce GOAT ON A BOAT: Bugtown Follies on Thursday, August 16 at 11 am. Tickets range from $15 - $25 and are on sale now at baystreet.org and through the Box Office at 631-725-9500. Guests who purchase tickets to three Goat on a Boat summer performances will receive a fourth ticket free to a future Goat on a Boat performance.

In Bugtown Follies Master of Ceremonies Bugsby Berkeley heads a cast of all-star insects who perform in the craziest Vaudeville show ever! Acrobatic ants, jumping fleas, tap-dancing spiders, cavorting caterpillars...even a butterfly beauty pageant are all part of the fun in this supersized, imaginative close-up look at some of nature's wonders.

Goat on a Boat: The Doubtful Sprout - Thursday, August 23 @ 11 am
Get ready to explore the world under your feet in this underground puppet adventure. Tunnel down with Worm and Sprout as they discover the mysterious life found inside soil. Along the way, kids help figure out the secrets that help Sprout grow. Award-winning puppeteer, Liz Joyce, brings this ecological wonderland to life with multiple puppetry styles, projections and song.

Goat on a Boat: The Comedians - Saturday, August 25 @ 11 am
All the way from Italy, Italian Commedia dell'Arte brings The Comedians to Goat on a Boat with a show in the Italian theatrical tradition mixing drama, music and puppetry. Meet Harlequin, Pantalone, and a host of tricksters and clowns as the ancient Italian Commedia dell'Arte tradition comes to life in the hands of two masterful actor/puppeteers. This comedic performance combines pantomime, music, and puppetry with traditional Italian leather masks, costumes, and scenery. Teatrino Giullare is known throughout the world for their skillful and creative style.

Goat on a Boat: Three Billy Goats Gruff -Saturday, September 1 @ 11 am
This production starts with the classic race of the Tortoise and the Hare. Hare, super speedy; Tortoise, slow and steady. Who will win? The conclusion of the race takes place on the "Troll Bridge" waking up the Grumpy Old Troll. Three Billy Goats must find a way to outwit the Troll and get across the bridge so they can enjoy the field of green, green grass. Little Billy, his older sister Brittany, and their father Bruno all try to trip-trap their way across the bridge. Will they make it?

Goat on a Boat is a non-profit puppet theater committed to introducing young children and their families to a lifelong love of theater and the creative arts since 2001. They are among only 50 established puppet theaters remaining in the country.
