FRIDAY NIGHT FLICKS SERIES Announced At Bay Street Theater

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce a new film series called Friday Night Flicks will feature films on February 1, 8 and April 12 at 8 pm, each of which will be followed by talkbacks and Q&A with the audience.

Bay Street Theater joins forces with the Group for the East End, with the showing of the film STRAWS, a film by Linda Booker and narrated by Oscar winner Tim Robbins on Friday, February 1. With this film, Bay Street is also putting out the challenge to all of Main Street, Sag Harbor to eliminate single-use plastic water bottles and plastic straws. The film presentation will be followed by a talkback with Bob Deluca, President of Group for the East End and Bay Street's Executive Director, Tracy Mitchell, and Susan Lamontagne, President of Public Interest Media Group. The documentary explains the wreckage made of wildlife in the seas and other ramifications due to plastic straws.

Since STRAWS is under forty minutes in length, an additional group of shorts will also be shown that evening called 60 MiNueTs, TOXIC, a video series that explores environmental health challenges such as the games industry plays to keep dangerous products on the market. The film was an official selection of the American Public Health Association's 15th Annual Global Health Film Festival.

Written and directed by children's health advocate, Sag Harbor resident, and President of Public Interest Media Group, Susan Lamontagne on behalf of the University of California, San Francisco's Program on Reproductive Health and the Environment, the film's Sag Harbor-based creative team included puppeteer Liz Joyce, videographer Jon Hokanson, and graphic designer Diane Hewett. This series on environmental health issues was produced by Public Interest Media Group and will also be followed by a talkback with local resident, Susan Lamontagne.

On Friday, February 8, CARNAL KNOWLEDGE will be screened and will be followed by a talkback with screenwriter Jules Feiffer. Jack Nicholson stars in this bitter-sweet comedy that follows two college roommates seeking sexual fulfillment. One chooses the narrow confines of the marriage contract, the other the broader pleasures of playing the field. As they advance towards middle age, they wonder which of them has made out best. Also stars Ann Margaret, Arthur Garfunkel, and Candice Bergen. The film is rated R.


On Friday, April 12, CITY HALL will be presented and followed by a talkback with producer Ken Lipper. The film stars Al Pacino, John Cusack, Bridget Fonda, and Danny Aiello. The accidental shooting of a boy in New York leads to an investigation by the Deputy Mayor, and unexpectedly far-reaching consequences. The film is rated R.

Tickets for each date are $12 and are available online now at baystreet.org or by calling the Box Office at 631-725-9500. The Box Office is open Tuesday - Saturday, 11 am - 5 pm or until showtime.
