Bay Street Theater Announces Music Mondays Concert Series For July And August; Norm Lewis, Mandy Gonzalez, and More

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the Music Mondays summer concert series on Monday nights in July and August, with all shows at 8 pm. This year's lineup includes performances by Jackie Hoffman (Hairspray, Feud: Bette and Joan) on July 2, Norm Lewis (Jesus Christ Superstar - Live in Concert!, Porgy and Bess) on July 9, Lucie Arnaz (The Lucy Show, Pippin) on July 16, Isaac Mizrahi (Project Runway: All-Stars, Unzipped) on August 6, Charles Busch (The Divine Sister, Vampire Lesbians of Sodom) on August 13, Bobby Conte Thornton (A Bronx Tale: The Musical, Bay Street Theater's My Fair Lady) on August 20, and Mandy Gonzalez (Hamilton, Wicked) on August 27. Tickets range from $59 - $125 and are on sale now at baystreet.org and through the Box Office at 631-725-9500. Bay Street will be offering special deals of 20% off for those who purchase tickets to 3 shows or more, or 25% off to those who purchase tickets to all 7 shows.

Jackie Hoffman: From Broadway to Bay Street

Long on comic talent and vocal power, short on patience with many things, actor and comedian Jackie Hoffman is one of the stage and screen's favorite scene stealers. After shining in supporting roles in Hairspray, Xanadu, The Addams Family, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, she made the transition to leading lady in the critically-acclaimed Off-Broadway revival of Once Upon a Mattress. She is also a fan favorite at Joe's Pub, where she has performed a string of bawdy, vaudevillian solo shows, including The Kvetching Continues, the venue's longest-running show. Fresh off her Emmy-nominated performance as Mamacita in FX's Feud: Bette and Joan, the Theatre World Award and Obie-winning Hoffman takes over Bay Street Theater for a night of show tunes, covers, original songs, and "kvetching on an operatic scale" (New York Times).

Emmy nominee Jackie Hoffman most recently portrayed the much-acclaimed role of Mamacita in FX's Feud: Bette and Joan, alongside Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon. She received rave reviews for her recent role on Broadway as the comical Mrs. Teavee in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. A staple on television, Ms. Hoffman's numerous credits include Rucchel Epstein in Difficult People, Gilmore Girls, I Shudder, Girls, Six by Sondheim, The New Normal, The Good Wife, Inside Amy Schumer, Raising Hope, Melissa and Joey, On We Go, 30 Rock, Starved, Hope and Faith, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Strangers with Candy, TV Funhouse, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Soulman, and Cosby. A distinguished voice actress, she has also appeared in the cartoons High School USA, Family Guy, Dilbert, PB & J Otter, and the film Robots. In film, Ms. Hoffman has appeared in memorable roles in Birdman, Kissing Jessica Stein, Decay, The Sitter, The Extra Man, How to Seduce Difficult Women, A Dirty Shame, Garden State, Legally Blonde II, and Mo' Money. On Broadway, Ms. Hoffman has co-starred in On the Town, The Addams Family, Xanadu, and Hairspray, for which she won a Theatre World Award. Off-Broadway, she starred as Princess Winifred in the Transport Group's Once Upon a Mattressand received a Drama League Award Nomination for her performance. Her additional theater credits include A Chanukah Charol, The Gingerbread House, Straightjacket, Incident at Cobbler's Knob (Lincoln Center Festival), and One Woman Shoe. Ms. Hoffman has performed in regional theater as well, in Chicago at the MUNY and The Sisters Rosensweig at The Globe Theatre. She starred in six revues at the Second City Theatre in Chicago, where she won the Jeff Award for Best Actress. Her solo shows at Joe's Pub have received critical acclaim. They include The Kvetching Continues, Jackie Five-Oh!, Chanukah at Joe's Pub (Bistro Award), Scraping the Bottom, and Jackie with a Z. In 2009, Ms. Hoffman received the Mac Award for Best Female Stand-Up. Her show Jackie Hoffman: Live from Joe's Pub is available on disc. Bay Street Theater's audiences will remember Jackie Hoffman from her starring role in the 2013 Mainstage Production of A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum.

Norm Lewis: Songs for a Summer Night

Norm Lewis was recently seen in the NBC television special, Jesus Christ Superstar - Live in Concert!, alongside John Legend, Sara Bareilles, and Alice Cooper. He recently appeared in the Broadway revival of Once on This Island and as Sweeney Todd in the Off-Broadway production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Barrow Street Theatre, receiving the AUDELCO Award for his performance. In May of 2014, he made history as The Phantom of the Opera's first African American Phantom on Broadway. He has been seen on PBS in the Live From Lincoln Center productions of Showboat with Vanessa Williams, Norm Lewis: Who Am I?, and New Year's Eve: A Gershwin Celebration with Diane Reeves, as well as American Voices with Renée Fleming and the PBS Special First You Dream - The Music of Kander & Ebb. He can be seen recurring in the VH1 series, Daytime Divas, also alongside Vanessa Williams. His additional television credits include Chicago Med, Gotham, The Blacklist, and Blue Bloods, as well as in his recurring role as Senator Edison Davis on the hit drama Scandal. Mr. Lewisreceived Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle award nominations for his performance as Porgy in the Broadway production of The Gershwins' Porgy & Bess. Other Broadway credits include Sondheim on Sondheim, The Little Mermaid, Les Misérables, Chicago, Amour, The Wild Party, Side Show, Miss Saigon, and The Who's Tommy. In London's West End he has appeared as Javert in Les Misérables and Les Misérables: The 25th Anniversary Concert, which aired on PBS. Off-Broadway, Mr. Lewis has performed in Dessa Rose (Drama Desk nomination, AUDELCO Award), Shakespeare in the Park's The Tempest, The Two Gentlemen of Verona (Drama League nomination), Captains Courageous, and A New Brain. His regional credits include Porgy in The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess (A.R.T.), Ragtime, Dreamgirls (with Jennifer Holliday), First You Dream, Sweeney Todd, and The Fantasticks. On film, Mr. Lewis can be seen in the newly released drama, Magnum Opus, and has appeared in Winter's Tale, Sex and the City 2, Confidences, and Preaching to the Choir. Lucie Arnaz: I Got the Job! Songs From My Musical Past

From her first role at 14 as The Cheshire Cat in Alice In Wonderland to a grandmother hanging upside down on a trapeze while singing about the preciousness of life in Pippin, Arnaz and Musical Director Ron Abel offer audiences this brand new concert sharing stories and songs that Arnaz has long been known for. With anecdotes and fond memories about her co-stars, directors and musical collaborators, Arnaz offers iconic songs and hidden treasures from some of Broadway's greatest shows and a look at the backstage magic it takes to create them. Bay Street audiences my remember her sold out performance with Robert Klein, as they performed their hits from They're Playing Our Song. This is a not to be missed evening of entertainment celebrating our great American Musical Theatre.

Isaac Mizrahi: Moderate to Severe

Mizrahi will perform classics by Charles Aznavour, Blondie, and Cole Porter. He'll be joined by his band of (handsome, thin, single) (maybe not single) jazz musicians, led by Ben Waltzer. Mizrahi will tell (mostly true) irreverent stories and will re-gift items he's picked up from overzealous fans, business associates, and gala dinner swag bags.

Isaac Mizrahi has worked extensively in the entertainment industry as an actor, host, writer, designer, and producer for over 30 years. He is the subject and co-creator of Unzipped, a documentary for which received an award at the Sundance Film Festival, which follows the making of his Fall 1994 collection. He hosted his own television talk show The Isaac Mizrahi Show for seven years, has written two books, and has made countless appearances in movies and on television. He currently serves as a judge on Project Runway: All-Stars.Mizrahi directed productions of A Little Night Music and The Magic Flute for the Opera Theatre of St. Louis. Annually, he directs and narrates his production of the children's classic Peter and The Wolf at The Guggenheim Museum in New York. He has performed cabaret at Café Carlyle, Joe's Pub, West Bank Café and City Winery locations across the country. Mizrahi has his own Production Company, Isaac Mizrahi Entertainment, under which he has several projects in development in television, theatre, and literature. He is at work on a memoir due out in 2019.

Charles Busch: My Kinda '60s

Tony nominee, Drama Desk Lifetime Achievement honoree, and two-time MAC Award winner, Charles Busch employs all of his skills as performer and playwright in a new show that gets to the essence of this legendary entertainer. Weaving tales of his Manhattan childhood and adolescence raised by his indomitable Aunt Lillian through the lens of the tumultuous decade of the 1960's, Busch will be singing a great songbook from Broadway to Pop, featuring the work of among others Burt Bacharach, Jimmy Webb, the Beatles, Henry Mancini, Joni Mitchell, Stephen Sondheim and Kander and Ebb. Songs include "Two for the Road", "Anyone Who Had a Heart" and "Both Sides Now". He will be appearing with his long-time musical director/ arranger Tom Judson in a unique evening of music and storytelling, both hilarious and poignant.

Charles Busch is the author and star of such plays as The Divine Sister, Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, The Tribute Artist and The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, which ran for nearly two years on Broadway and received a Tony nomination for Best Play. He wrote and starred in the film versions of his plays, Psycho Beach Party and Die Mommie Die, the latter of which won him the Best Performance Award at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2003, Mr. Buschreceived a special Drama Desk Award for career achievement as both performer and playwright. He is also the subject of the acclaimed documentary film The Lady in Question is Charles Busch. A long-time member of Bay Street's family and its Artistic Advisory Board, audiences may remember him from his roles in The Lady In Question, Auntie Mame, Home Fires (which moved off-Broadway under the new title, Swingtime Cantene), and Shanghai Moon. He is a two-time MAC award winner and has performed his cabaret act in many cities including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New Orleans, Atlanta, Philadelphia, London, Paris, Barcelona and New York. In winter of 2016, his show The Lady at the Mic premiered at Jazz at Lincoln Center's American Songbook series. His first CD, Charles Busch Live at Feinstein's 54 Below, has just been released by Broadway Records.

Bobby Conte Thornton: Blame It on My Youth

Bobby Conte Thornton is currently making his highly praised Broadway debut as Calogero, the leading role in the Robert DeNiro and Jerry Zaks-helmed A Bronx Tale - The Musical at the Longacre Theatre. A 2015 graduate of the University of Michigan, Thornton starred in Grease at Paper Mill Playhouse and Les Misérables at the Muny while pursuing his BFA. Upon graduation, his New York Theater credits include Bay Street Theater's 2016 Mainstage Productionof My Fair Lady directed by Michael Arden and Starting Here, Starting Nowdirected by Richard Maltby, Jr. He has also starred regionally in Two River Theater's all-male A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum and the world premiere of Ken Ludwig's A Comedy Of Tenors. Additionally, Thornton debuted his solo show, Blame It on My Youth, at the historic Venetian Room in the Fairmont San Francisco before his sold-out engagement at Feinstein's/54 Below. He made his symphonic debut headlining with the Carolina Philharmonic. Originally from San Francisco, California, Thorntoncurrently resides in New York City.
