Feature: AN EVENING OF CABARET WITH JOHN DAVIDSON at Private Performance

Las Vegas headliner Penn Jillette of Penn and Teller will open up his home for an intimate night of entertainment to benefit Aid for AIDS of Nevada. AFAN's 6th Evening of Cabaret returns with Broadway and television star and Strip entertainer John Davidson performing on Jan. 25.

The evening will begin with a reception featuring culinary samples by Honey Salt, followed by an intimate performance from Davidson. A live auction will also be held with a chance to bid on vacation packages, luxury retail items, and show tickets.

In 1964, Davidson made his Broadway debut in Foxy starring Bert Lahr, who was best known as the cowardly lion in MGM's The Wizard of Oz. Davidson also appeared in State Fair. Decades later, Davidson portrayed Henry in the off-Broadway revival of The Fantasticks. He played the Wizard in the first North American tour of Wicked and Captain James Hook/ Charles Frohman in the North American tour of Finding Neverland. Davidson also received the Theater Guild Award for playing Curly in the Broadway revival of Oklahoma!

Audiences will also remember Davidson as the TV host "The Hollywood Squares," during its original run and revival as well as "That's Incredible!" He has appeared in movies and scripted television shows, hosted his own talk show, recorded 12 albums, and hosted other game shows. Davidson also has a strong connection with Las Vegas headlining many shows over the years.

"We are thrilled to bring back Evening of Cabaret," said Antioco Carrillo, AFAN's executive director. "We decided to do an intimate event instead of hosting it in a big theater. This will be a great evening with John, who is the consummate performer, bringing a treat for his many fans."

Penn & Teller have headlined at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino since 2001. Jillette has also written several best-selling books, hosted television shows including the very popular "Penn & Teller: Fool Us," hosted podcasts, and made numerous guest appearances in movies and on television.

While the evening promises to be a delightful experience, the need remains great for the work done by AFAN giving support services to over 1,500 clients living with or affected by HIV/AIDS in Southern Nevada.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, in 2018 Nevada remains in the top 20 for contracting an infectious STD with extensive budget cuts for public health programs in 2019. For 34 years, AFAN has provided health expertise, support, and advocacy for adults and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Various programs offered include mental health services, nutrition, housing, financial support (emergency assistance), case management, free HIV testing, community outreach, and prevention. AFAN recently moved into a new location at 1830 East Sahara and Carrillo encourages everyone to reach out for a tour and information.

Aid for AIDS of Nevada's Sixth Evening of Cabaret with John Davidson at the home of Penn and Emily Jillette will be held on Friday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. To purchase tickets, visit AFANLV.org.
