Opera Production of AIDA runs at the New National Theatre Tokyo A commemorative opera production of AIDA is running at the New National Theatre Tokyo from April 5 to April 22 in celebration of the theatre's 20th anniversary.

AIDA tells the tale of a love triangle between stolen Nubian princess Aida, Egyptian princess Amneris, and soldier Radames. They become entangled in love, loyalty and betrayal as the story explores themes of responsibility, identity and prosperity.

The original Broadway production won four Tony Awards in 2000 and features an exuberant, rousing score from the acclaimed Elton John and Tim Rice.

New National Theatre Tokyo offers aural and visual spectacle in this special production of AIDA, with over 300 singers, a ballet troupe and supporting cast.
