Medici.tv To Air Verbier Festival Gala And SALOME Live From Salzburg Festival

This week medici.tv will offer two major events live-streamed from the Verbier Festival and the Salzburg Festival.

On Wednesday, July 25, medici.tv will celebrate the Verbier Festival's 25th anniversary with 10-hours of uninterrupted live-streamed content including performances, interviews, and archival footage from the Verbier Festival, culminating in a special gala concert featuring performances by some of classical music's greatest musicians.

On Saturday, July 28, medici.tv will broadcast the sold-out premiere of Romeo Castellucci's new production of Richard Strauss's Salome starring Asmik Grigorian live from the Salzburg Festival.

The 10-hour livestream event celebrating the Verbier Festival's 25th anniversary kicks off at 5:00AM New York Time (11:00AM Verbier Time) with a recital by Romanian cellist Andrei Ioni?? and South Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho. Following this, medici.tv will offer a one-of-a-kind experience via live-stream, including a behind-the-scenes look at the festival, artist interviews, and archival footage from the past decade of world-class music-making. Crowning this unique event is the Verbier Festival's 25th anniversary gala concert, featuring a star-studded line-up of more than 35 soloists, including Lisa Batiashvili, Martin Fröst, Evgeny Kissin, Denis Matsuev, Mikhail Pletnev, Sir András Schiff, Daniil Trifonov, Yuja Wang, and many more. Valery Gergiev, the festival's Music Director, will lead the program conducting the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra. This special performance begins at 12:00PM New York Time (6:00PM Verbier Time). medici.tv will continue to live-stream select performances from the Verbier Festival through the festival's final performances this summer on August 5.

On July 28, 2018, medici.tv will broadcast the sold-out premiere of Romeo Castellucci's new production of Richard Strauss's Salome with Franz Welser-Möst conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and featuring Lithuanian soprano Asmik Grigorian in the title role. Grigorian made her acclaimed Salzburg debut last summer as Marie in Berg's Wozzeck. She will be joined by John Daszak as Herod, Anna Maria Chiuri as Herodias, and Gábor Bretz as Jochanaan. The performance will begin at 2:00PM New York Time (8:00PM Salzburg Time).
