Review: GIDI DAYDREAMING MUSICAL at Incubator Theater

The story of "Gidi Daydreaming Musical" by "Incubator theater" takes place in Gidi's mind and shows 3 different types of his mind, feelings, and acts. Gidi is waking up one morning with a different feeling. For the first time, one of the "Gidis" in Gidi's mind admit that he fell in love with the cashier in the supermarket in front of his house.

This musical just by the plot could be half of his time. The plot doesn't' evolving towards the end but run away to many directions and just become more and more complicated, there is a huge mess in a very simple story. There were moments where I saw some people in the audience that couldn't keep their eyes open because the plot stacked and got boring. It's like hearing someone complains about the same thing over and over again, you just want to cut him and tell him to move on!

The things that kept this musical from falling apart and actually be more than good weren't that lightning or set that were very shadow, it was the music. Genius songs with very clever and sharp jokes and a live band. It's very shown that there was a lot of thought about the songs, maybe a little bit too much, that didn't leave a lot of thinking time for the actual plot. I think that the creator Jonathan Blumenfeld is amazing as an actor, director, and songwriter but didn't succeed in making the plot interesting.

The actresses are very good, vocally they sound amazing, there weren't big dancing moments with a huge chorus and that for me fit the musical very well and didn't make it a joke and saved it from being pathetic. There were more than just giggles while watching this but an actual laugh. If this show got a more interesting, full and complex plot it could be much better. Don't get me wrong, if you do get free time and want to watch something nice you can enjoy this musical and support their creators, especially if you like funny songs, it's just not a must see.
