Wexford Festival Opera Appoints A New Chair

The board of Wexford Festival Trust has elected Dr Mary Kelly as its incoming Chairperson in succession to the current Chairman, Mr. Ger Lawlor who will complete his term of office at the end of 2018. Dr Kelly will take up the post on January 1st next.

Dr Kelly has served on the board of Wexford Festival Trust since 2017, and has been a long-time active supporter of the Festival, Dr Kelly served as Director General Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), 2002 to 2011. And has recently completed a seven-year term as Chairperson of An Bord Pleanála. Dr Kelly is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, and was elected to membership of the Royal Irish Academy in 2008, where she has also served on the Council of the Academy.

Now in its 67th year, Wexford Festival Opera is recognised as one of the world's leading Opera Festivals and was named 'Best Festival' at the International Opera Awards in 2017.
