Composer And Librettist Of DINNER AT EIGHT To Attend The Show's European Premiere

Wexford Festival Opera has confirmed that the composer and librettist of Dinner at Eight, William Bolcom and Mark Campbell, will attend the European premiere of Dinner at Eight. To add to the occasion, the composer and librettist will give a talk about their journey in creating this opera, which was originally commissioned by Minnesota Opera.
Meet the Creators: Conversation with the composer and librettist of Dinner at Eight will take place on Sunday, 21 October at 10 a.m. in the Jerome Hynes Theatre in the National Opera House. Tickets to this special event are free, but must be booked in advance.
This new event is likely to attract great interest and, in anticipation, the performance time of the first performance of Bernstein á la carte, the daytime ShortWorks in Clayton Whites Hotel, has been changed by one hour to the later time of twelve noon. This change allows patrons to avail of both events if desired.
The Dr Tom Walsh Lecture scheduled for Saturday, 20 October will be given by celebrated British baritone Sir Thomas Allen, who has now decided to sing as part of his 'lecture'. He will be accompanied by the accomplished conductor, Stephen Higgins. To facilitate this, the time and venue of this enhanced event has been changed and will now take place at the slightly earlier time of 10.30 a.m. (previously scheduled for 11 a.m.) and will be held in the more suitable performing venue of St. Iberius Church on Wexford's Main Street. Tickets for the revised programme are €15. Due to the design of the venue, seating is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Cast Changes
There are two cast changes. Spanish tenor Sergio Escobar will sing the role of Vito in Mala Vita and San-Lui in L'oracolo. American baritone Craig Irvin will sing the role of Jack Rance in the ShortWorks La fanciulla del West in addition to the previously announced role of Dan Packard in Dinner at Eight. The planned screenings of the 1932 film adaptation of Dinner at Eight announced earlier in the year will now not take place due to circumstances beyond our control.
