GOLDSTEIN is Now Available for Licensing Through Steele Spring Stage Rights

Steele Spring Stage Rights, the licensing company that represents The Marvelous Wonderettes, has just acquired the licensing and theatrical performance rights to the off-Broadway musical about a family and its complicated history with a book by Charlie Schulman and music and lyrics by Michael Roberts.

Louis Goldstein has written a tell-all family memoir. The book is a best-seller. But is it true? History becomes personal in this uplifting and heartwarming, multi-generational exploration of the challenges and triumphs of an immigrant Jewish-American family. This original musical reminds us that families are complicated, the truth is never clear, and forgiveness is our best hope.

The Original Off-Broadway Cast Recording of Goldstein will be released on January 25th, 2019, but is available for pre-order NOW at Broadway Records and Amazon.

Charlie Schulman writes and produces plays and musicals. His collaboration with composer/lyricist/producer Michael Roberts includes The Fartiste (Best Musical: International/NYC Fringe, Productions: Off-Broadway and Charing Cross Theatre, London's West End) and Goldstein (Nominated for Best New Musical by The Off-Broadway Alliance.) Other Off-Broadway credits: Angel Of Death, The Birthday Present and The Ground Zero Club (Dramatists Play Service.) Regionally he has premiered new work at New Jersey Rep, The Magic Theater (San Francisco) and Theater J. (Washington D.C.) Charlie is a three-time winner of The Avery Hopwood Award for Drama from The University of Michigan. He is a recipient of The Charles MacArthur award for Comedy from The National Playwrights Conference at The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center. He received the Walton Fellowship from Arena Stage (Washington D.C.) for his play The Great Man. Charlie also writes for film and television. He teaches playwriting and screenwriting at New York University and is on the MFA faculty at Spalding University.

Michael Roberts is the composer/lyricist and arranger/orchestrator of Goldstein, produced Off-Broadway in 2018 at The Actors Temple Theater. Roberts is perhaps best known as the author, composer and lyricist of Golf: The Musical (2003-2004 Off-Broadway, 2006 and 2010 Off-Broadway revivals, and 40 national and international productions). Other productions include The Fartiste (winner: Best Musical-2006 NY Fringe, Off-Broadway and London productions), and Greed Off-Broadway at New World Stages (2014). Film music includes "Love Walked In" (w/ Denis Leary). Television music includes three seasons on AMC's Emmy-winning sitcom Remember Wenn. Roberts has music directed for Betty Buckley, Donna Murphy, Rupert Holmes, Lesley Gore, Stephanie Mills, and Joan Rivers, and has worked with directors Hal Prince, Susan Stroman and Kathleen Marshall.
