Indianapolis has Ben Asaykwee living in its community. As longtime artistic director of Q Artistry, Asaykwee has shared his stunning talents through his original musical creations including The Donner Party Opera, Zirkus Grimm, Al in Boogie Wunderland and the fantastic and visually captivating Cabaret Poe, celebrating its 10th anniversary. For the Halloween season, the Phoenix brings Asaykwee's fabulous Cabaret Poe, an homage to the master of the macabre, Edgar Allan Poe, to the Frank and Katrina Basile Stage.

The production is a wonderful concoction of live music, scene work, and poetry woven together with Asaykwee's unique narrative voice. The Raven, The Cask of Amontillado, The Bells, The Fall of the Usher, and Annabel Lee are just a few of Poe's brilliant creations that thrill and mesmerize audiences in this two-hour, two-act musical extravaganza produced in the style of film auteur Tim Burton. Since it's inception 10 years ago, Cabaret Poe has dazzled audiences throughout Central Indiana and beyond.

This production is suitable for the entire family. In fact, Phoenix Theatre is inaugurating its student matinee series performances designed for school groups to attend weekday matinees throughout the entire month of October. More than 1000 junior high and high school students are expected to attend these student matinees.

Join us throughout the Halloween season for this wonderfully spooky celebration of the work of Edgar Allan Poe. Many audience members return year after year to enjoy Asaykwee's clever take on Poe's body of work. Don't miss the 2018 iteration of what we hope will become a Phoenix tradition.

Cabaret Poe runs October 5- November 4, Thursdays at 7pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sunday matinees at 2pm. Tickets are $33-37, available at the Box Office by calling 317-635-7529 or visiting PhoenixTheatre.org. And, as recently announced, tickets and flex passes for the 2018-2019 season are now available!
