Review:  SNOW WHITE AND THE 7 DWARFS -- A Broadway Style Musical in India Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs is a story that begins catching fancy even as you are a toddler in school. Interestingly, such is the power of this timeless tale that it continues its fascination even when you are a 60-year-old. From a school stage to Broadway musicals, everyone has a distinct memory of the first time they saw the story of the princess caught in the web of deceit and jealousy. Until she finds herself in the kind company of 7 dwarfs.

So, recently when the fabled tale came on stage in India, in full Broadway style it had to attract attention. On March 16, Mumbai based Vishaal Asrani's Institute of Performing Arts, in association with The Pioneer Drama Company and supported by the Trinity College London (Mumbai Centre) presented SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS - A Broadway style musical show that according to the organizers is a great entertainer for the whole family.

The play takes you to an enchanting world, a magical forest. A fairytale jungle where, the pixies, fairies, elves and goblins abound. They come across to help as a little princess, Isabelle who is lost in the woods and is distraught. They offer to help her find her way home and sets out with the princess on a magical journey through the enchanted forest, where the fairy tale springs to life. The story traces the journey of Snow White from the palace of her stepmother, the evil Queen, to her life in the enchanted forest with the 7 dwarfs and finally to the time when she is united with her Prince. The set of the show adds to the charming narrative

With a cast of adult and child actors, this musical is sprinkled with engaging song and dance sequences. The set design and state of the art lighting and sound effects along with the LED backdrops, moving sets and stunning costumes designed by top Indian and international costume designers lends an inimitable quality to the show.

But wait, just before you thought if you need another re-telling of the tale you grew up watching then there may be a surprise. There is a new twist in the tale, that we are not giving away so that you can discover it first hand.

Princess Orion is played by Aadhya Shetty and King Orion by Vishaal Asrani. Ji Subi is the huntsmen and besides these all the characters bring along a child like quality to their part, lending the play a true blast from the past feel.
