A.D. Players at The George, one of Houston's largest resident theatre companies, announced show times and dates for its featured show for the month of June, "David, the Best Slinger in the West," a recounting of the story of David and Goliath, Wild West-style. The show will run from Tuesday, June 5 - Saturday, June 23.

The biblical story is reimagined for young audiences as a classic Western showdown, in which sheep herder David stands up to the notorious leader of the Philistine gang. Set in the 1870s, audiences will discover what happens when David leaves his six-shooter at home and confronts Goliath with nothing but a slingshot in hand.

"With performances by an incredibly talented cast, giving it their all for this final children's show of the season, audiences of all ages are sure to leave here entertained and inspired by this timeless story of courage and resolve," said Executive Director Jake Speck, A.D. Players at The George.

"David, The Best Slinger in the West," is written and directed by Robert Brunson, and stars Joshua Kenny as David. Also appearing on The George Theatre stage is set design by Afsaneh Aayani, scenic lighting by Joey Watkins, sound by Ryan Carlson and costume design by Danielle Hodgins.

Tickets are priced at $20, and can be purchased online or by calling The George Theater Box Office at (713) 526-2721
