Diamond Head Theatre Extends Disney's NEWSIES The second and final extension to DHT's summer show, Disney's Newsies, has been added effective immediately. Disney's Newsies now runs July 13 - August 12. Shows are Thursdays - Sundays (except for opening and closing week). Evening shows start at 7:30PM for Thursday - Saturdays. Sunday shows are at 4:00PM and Saturday matinees are at 3:00PM.

The show, a bona-fide Broadway hit, was inspired by the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899. A high energy musical, the show addresses themes of social injustice and exploitative labor practices and features a David-versus-Goliath-like struggle as the young newsboys learn to about power and public influence.

Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged 'newsies, dreams of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys' expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what's right.

Disney's Newsies is directed and choreographed by Broadway director, Tammy Colucci. Musical direction is by Phil Hidalgo.
