Review: NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT at Diamond Head Theatre

A hilarious screwball comedy, NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, is an homage to a host of Jazz Age musicals, which were filled with songs, dances, and outlandish gags---in this musical, it's all set to the superb score ("S'Wonderful", "Fascinating Rhythm", "But Not for Me") of George and Ira Gershwin!

Set in the 1920s, the show is the story of charming and wealthy playboy Jimmy Winter (originated by Matthew Broderick), who meets rough female bootlegger Billie Bendix (originated by Kelli O'Hara) the weekend of his wedding. Billie and her gang decide to hide cases of alcohol in Jimmy's Long Island mansion. That leads to trouble with his wife-to-be and her prohibitionist family who have shown up for the wedding.

The show stars Drew Niles as Jimmy Winter with Ahnya Chang as the irrepressible Billie Bendix.

Review: NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT at Diamond Head Theatre Drew Niles is simply phenomenal, and dare I say... carries the show. While from Grand Junction, Colorado, Drew lives on island here in Oahu with his wife and three children. He recently took a leap of faith to leave the food and beverage industry to open a private voice studio in Honolulu. So, if you or any of your friends might be looking for a voice teacher and/or an occasional audition coaching, take a look at his website: http://www.R2Studio.net - you'll find all kinds of information on there, and you can sign up for your first lesson as well. He will be accepting students from 10 years old and up, and will be officially open for business on May 1!

(Sgt) Kyle Mcnamara who plays the role of Duke Mahoney, iReview: NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT at Diamond Head Theatre s an active duty soldier in the U.S. Army, stationed at Schofield Barracks in Oahu, though as an active duty service member myself, where he finds the time to be a full time soldier and perform as spectacularly as he does is beyond me.

Joining the cast on stage are Stacey Pulmano as Estonia Dulworth, The Duchess of Woodford; Matthew Pedersen as Cookie McGee; Lea Woods Almanza as Eileen Evergreen; Fedrico Biven as Senator Max Evergreen; Jody Bill as Jeannie Muldoon; Jesie Rocetes as Chief Berry; and Lisa Konove as Millicent Winter, the mother of Jimmy.

Shows are Thursdays - Sundays (expect for opening week). Evening shows start at 7:30PM Thursday - Saturdays. Sunday shows are at 4:00PM and Saturday matinees are at 3:00PM. Show runs from March 23- April 15, 2018.
