The Naples Players Present Comedy ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID

The Naples Players and Naples Garage Door present the comedy Always a Bridesmaid in Tobye Studio Theatre March 27, 2019 and runs through April 20, 2019.

In this hilarious comedic romp, four friends have sworn to keep the promise they made on the night of their Senior Prom: to be in each other's weddings. More than thirty years later, they're determined to honor that vow...no matter what.

Directed by beloved Naples Players' veteran director, Dallas Dunnagan, the Always a Bridesmaid cast includes Jo Atkinson as Deedra Wingate, Pamela Austin as Monette Gentry, Rebecca Borchardt as Kari Ames-Bissette, Karen Ezrine as Sedalia Ellicott, Linda Mizeur as Charlie Collins, and Judy Scribner as Libby Ruth Ames.

"This is a play about friendship, sisterhood, and the promise these girlfriends made to one another as teens-and their lifelong bond as ever-lasting friends," shares director Dallas Dunnagan.

For those who have enjoyed decades-long friendships and pinky-swear promises, this heartwarming comedy is sure to delight. Written by the prolific and widely known trio of Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten, Always a Bridesmaid follows the lives and friendship of six very strong Southern women who are both determined and marvelously flawed as well as wonderfully funny, loyal, and loving. Four of them have been friends since seventh grade and, at some point, have promised each other to be bridesmaids at each of their weddings. Of course, their expectations at the time of the promise was that they would easily fulfill the promises by participating in four ceremonies. Now, decades later, there have been more trips to the altar than anyone expected; and we are about to witness Monette's latest. The fifth strong woman runs the Historic Laurelton Oaks, a wedding venue in Virginia that the four have become regulars at, and the sixth is the daughter of the only one who has been in a satisfying marriage all this time. She introduces each of the four scenes as she tipples her champagne just before her own first (and hopefully only) fling at marriage.

Always a Bridesmaid runs March 27 - April 20, 2019 in the Tobye Studio Theatre at The Naples Players at Sugden Theatre at 701 5th Avenue South in Naples. A "Girls Night Out" evening at the theatre is Saturday, April 20th with special treats for the ladies in attendance. A Red Carpet Opening Night event begins at 6:30 p.m. on March 27, 2019 before opening night for theatre patrons. Tickets are $40 and are available for purchase online at www.NaplesPlayers.org or by contacting the Box Office at (239) 263-7990.
