Review: ANNIE at Broadway Palm is Brilliantly Charming!

Broadway Palm's final production of their 25th season, ANNIE, brought to life the popular, heartwarming tale of an orphan girl trying to find her parents.

Piper Sobon played the title role of Annie, and she was spectacular. She brought such an effervescent, optimistic, bright presence to the character. She lit up the stage with her charm and spunk. Her voice was fantastic as well; most everyone knows the songs from ANNIE, and she and the rest of Review: ANNIE at Broadway Palm is Brilliantly Charming! the cast more than did them justice. Her dog, Sandy, played by Peyton, was also incredibly good and very cute.

I saw the "Red Team" of orphans, and they were excellent. "It's the Hard Knock Life," one of the most well-known numbers in ANNIE, was very catchy and entertaining, thanks to each and every one of the girls. The entire ensemble impressed me very much in ANNIE. They all played many different parts throughout the show, making this production quite grand, fun, and energetic.

Review: ANNIE at Broadway Palm is Brilliantly Charming! Jennifer Hope played Miss Hannigan, and I appreciated how perfectly she portrayed her character. Though Miss Hannigan is a villainous character who isn't meant to be liked, Hope had some shining moments in the show; her voice is incredible, and her acting skill is superb. Her performance of "Little Girls" showcased Hannigan's personality very well.

Oliver Warbucks was played by Victor Legarreta, and Grace Farrell was played by Melissa Whitworth. I really enjoyed Legarreta's portrayal of Warbucks; he showed a range of emotion through the Review: ANNIE at Broadway Palm is Brilliantly Charming! character, and the compassion Warbucks felt for Annie was evident. I thoroughly enjoyed his relationship with Whitworth's Grace, who was elegant, determined, and encouraging to both Warbucks and Annie.

The orchestra in ANNIE was absolutely brilliant. The music from this show is iconic, and they played it very well. Amy McCleary directed and choreographed Broadway Palm's ANNIE, and she clearly did an outstanding job. Every single aspect of this show made it so wonderful.

Broadway Palm's production of ANNIE is not to be missed. Not only is the storyline beautiful and a bit bittersweet, but the show is also hilarious and full of music most everyone knows and loves. This was a monumental season for Broadway Palm, and it is Review: ANNIE at Broadway Palm is Brilliantly Charming! no surprise that they're ending it on a very high note with ANNIE. Whether you've seen every Broadway Palm production this season, just a few of them, or maybe none at all, I highly suggest you go see ANNIE. Get your tickets before they're gone!
