New Producer Joins The 2017-18 SILVER PALM AWARDS!

South Florida theatre's Silver Palm Awards has announced that award-winning actor and celebrated party host Conor Walton will be co-producing its upcoming awards ceremony and reception on Monday, December 10th, 2018, along with Executive Producer Tony Finstrom and Producer Matt May of Verve Central Productions.

A previous Silver Palm Award recipient himself for his roles in The Normal Heart and It Shoulda Been You, Walton is also a three-time Carbonell Award nominee and a recent recipient of the South Florida Theatre League's Remy Award for service to the South Florida Theatre community.

"He's also famously known for throwing one heck of a soiree," says Producer May. "For the last two years, he and his husband, Mark Traverso, have sponsored and co-hosted the Carbonell Awards afterparty. And their annual Halloween party, benefiting Slow Burn Theatre Company, was voted 'Best Event of the Year' by Boca Raton Magazine. Their wedding, as well as their anniversary party, were also both featured in The Huffington Post."

"The Silver Palm Awards are presented annually to those who've made an outstanding or unique contribution to South Florida theatre," explains Finstrom, a co-founder of the awards. "There are no nominees, no winners or losers, and no limit to the number of citations given. It's one of the biggest yearly networking parties for our theatre community, and a rare opportunity for everyone to come together and have a great time while celebrating some amazing work."

Walton adds he hopes to continue the ten-year tradition of fun had by everyone at the Silver Palms "with just a touch more glitter!"

The names of the recipients of this year's Silver Palm Awards, voted on by theatre journalists of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties, will be announced in October. They cover the season designated from September 1st, 2017 to August 31st, 2018.

Established in 2007 to honor outstanding contributions to theatre in the region by playwright Finstrom, actress/talk show host Iris Acker, and theatre critic Ron Levitt, the 2017-18 Silver Palm Awards ceremony and party will be held this year on Monday, December 10, 2018, at 7:00 PM, again at ArtServe, 1350 Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, and again it will be hosted by the multi talented, multi-Silver Palm Award-winning actor/playwright/designer Michael McKeever.
