Citing increased demand for youth education classes and additional rehearsal space, Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre (FMCT) has signed a two-year lease at 6 Broadway in Fargo to meet current and evolving programming needs. FMCT's new space will be called Studio 6 Broadway and will operate in tandem with the theatre's long-time home, The Stage at Island Park. Studio 6 Broadway will feature two medium-sized classroom spaces, an 80-100 seat performance venue, and a large rehearsal hall, in addition to small practice rooms ideal for private voice or instrumental lessons.

FMCT's Executive Director, Eloise Breikjern, elaborates on the theatre's decision to pursue additional space: "To have our current venue filled is a great problem, but to meet our mission of community outreach, we needed more room. To quickly resolve this problem, FMCT leased the main floor at 6 Broadway and we will begin by filling it with our summer education programs. Best case would be an addition to the theatre's current footprint; we hope to make that a reality in the near future."

Beyond summer programming needs, Studio 6 Broadway will house an expanded slate of educational offerings for students and adults starting this fall and see utilization as a secondary rehearsal space for FMCT's ten show production schedule for next season.

Artistic Director Adam Pankow points to a recent example to illustrate the need for FMCT's second space: "On a recent Tuesday evening between the runs of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Stage was a hub of activity with an outside community event as a rental in the auditorium, an acting class in the administrative offices, and rehearsals for two different productions squeezed into our dressing rooms, classroom space, and main entrance pavilion. This space crunch is not an isolated occurrence, but a frequent dilemma our organization faces. Studio 6 Broadway is a strategic step forward in order for FMCT to innovate, grow, and serve the community to our fullest capacity."

To celebrate the acquisition and renovation of Studio 6, an open house is scheduled on Thursday, May 24th from 5:00-7:00pm in the new space located at 6 Broadway in Fargo. FMCT members and patrons, local artists, and all others interested in the expanded vision for the theatre are invited to attend. Snacks and a cash bar will be available.

Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that has been producing live theatre in the area for over 70 years. FMCT strives to engage and enrich the community by producing quality pieces of theatre that inspire discussion and participation from community members, both on and off stage.
