SEEKING
Seeking actors over the age of 18 for roles and understudies. All ethnicities and genders encouraged to audition. Local hires preferred. See breakdown.
PREPARATION
Please bring picture/resume. Prepare 16-32 bars of a song in a wild west or classical musical theatre style. Please bring sheet music in correct key. No a capella singing. Accompanist will be provided. Sides will be provided a week before EPA at www.garrymarshalltheatre.org

THE ROOT BEER BANDITS: A ROOTIN' TOOTIN; WILD WEST MUSICALE is an old-fashioned slapstick musical comedy full of original songs and colorful dances. Set against the shimmering wild west, way back in 1860 in a little township calls Sarsparilla City. This vaudevillian style musical centers around a young female Pony Express rider who finds herself smack dab in the middle of a sticky situation when two outlaws sneak into town and cause a whole mess-a trouble. There's a sheriff, a chase, a ho-down, and a sing-off at high noon.
Comic timing and understanding of all styles of comedy is key for all roles.
POLLYANNA PEPPERCORN: FEMALE (20s to 30s) our heroine is a girl in cowboy’s clothes. She is REAL. She is not fancy or frilly. She is sweet and kind. She rides for the Pony Express, but aims to be a songwriter. She connects and interacts with the audience. VOCAL RANGE: Alto. Strong singer and dancer. Guitar or banjo a plus, but not required.
SHERIFF BAILEY: MALE (30s to 40s) All-American good guy. A charming, handsome hero type. A true baritone with a kind, strong speaking voice. VOCAL RANGE: Baritone. Some dance ability. Guitar or banjo a plus, but not required.
SALLY SUE TUCKER: FEMALE (20s to 30s) an elegant, wild west belle who loves just about everything, especially fashion as she owns the only dress shop in town. VOCAL RANGE: Alto/Soprano. Strong singer and dancer.
COPPER PENNY: FEMALE (20s to 40s) A little Calamity Jane, a little Lucille Ball. An outlaw quick wit and sarcastic humor. VOCAL RANGE: Alto. Strong singer and dancer.
ZEKE: MALE (20s to 40s) Penny’s big-hearted side-kick. Not the brightest, but full of love. Must understand physical comedy. VOCAL RANGE: Tenor. Strong singer and dancer. Tumbling or rope skills a plus, but not required. Guitar or banjo a plus, but not required.
