Description:
CHRISTOPHER is a brilliant, young mathematician and amateur detective. He is sweet and incapable of lying or at least of being intentionally deceptive or hurtful to others. That said, his logical, empirically based view of the world makes it difficult for him to empathize with others, particularly the neuro-typical people who largely populate his story. Though his apparent developmental disorder is not specifically identified in the text, he does attend a special school for students with various special needs. Christopher seems to be among the growing group of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and his behavior is emblematic of someone with Asperger Syndrome. He lacks social skills and finds it tough to communicate with others except in the most nuance free, literal of ways. In the end, he proves himself not only brilliant but brave. He's even hopeful and wonders aloud 'if he can do anything?'
